Billiards/Pool Thread?

Seems like billiards and poker should have enough of a cross section that there is probably a thread somewhere, but I cant find it. Can anyone point me to a thread and/or forum that already exists? In case not, guess I'll post my question here.

I just got a pool table and am looking for a pretty basic beginners cue. Something that's not a "standard pool hall wood stick" that will warp quickly, but also not $250. While I dont mind spending the money, I dont think I know enough to know what I really want.

For current skillset - I used to play a lot, but haven't in over a decade. My plan is to play with this new stick for a few months and then pass it down to my teenager who's starting to learn how to play. Then I'll graduate to a longer-term solution.

I just went to have a look and got hit by a familiar name. Raise a cue to ytf. RIP

People have won world snooker titles with cues that cost <$50. Find somewhere that'll let you play a few shots with a bunch, pick whichever one feels the best. Don't spend a bunch until you know more about what you're doing, which you admit you don't at this point
