stream/lead maybe where i'm leaning now?

I think fence would be the best but its too much like garden

i'm not really seeing the fair connection.

In a county fair or a state fair there's all sorts of competitions like best veg, best flower arrangement, best honey and best pig.

There are likely going to be stretches here because this isn't a natural 4, it's desperation because this is likely our last go.

It's pointless playing the "what would the clue be if..." game with this.

Ham and tail locks in pig and the other words have to come along for the ride.

I think lead and stream are our best shot at this, but more than likely we're wrong and this was just a hail Mary.

Prolly not fence, but he doesn’t do unlimited for 2nd so can’t rule it out, unfortunately…and wooden fence is combustible so ugh at having to even think about that

Gotta look at combos and play the clue game to figure out the other

limo is unfortunate as it blocks a lot of combos

like engine+theft is just carjacking but that could be seen as limo+theft

so he had to navigate around that blocker

what is your read on what he was doing last turn with unlimited clue?

it wasn't for ivory+fair as fair isn't ours with 2 clue here, right? so why did he do unlimited?

ivory was ours; fair is next on our list but with 2 clue it's not ours

for garden, we got just carrot; fence was 2nd on list, but with 2 probably not

we can assume stream that they got for us was also garden

but unlimited wasn't for 4+1 because engine isn't garden

I assume our last word should hit garden somewhat as well as combustible?

maybe unlimited to ensure we def guessed ivory? and fair is neutral so no biggie if we did top 2?

maybe garden was just 2 and makeup ivory and since so many words hit garden a 2 clue may not get us to makeup ivory and could bury it and then he's gotta reclue it...thus unlimited

so prolly can just not worry much about garden words for last word

I've tried to get inside ervin's head before, but it's not for the faint-hearted. I wouldn't recommend it!

No idea why he did unlimited last time. I felt quite sure it was for fair as well, but obviously that isn't the case. I guess he just REALLY wanted to make sure we got ivory since it was hard to connect with the other words.

As for this clue, I wanna say he would give a 1-clue if fence was ours as that has always really been the reason for why it still works if second on the list is correct.

So, I guess I'm on engine and...skyscraper? I can't really make sense of anything else.

And I mean it's a combustion engine, not a combustible engine so there is even some chance he's avoiding it. But that's totally on him if that's the case.

Fair - no
Fence - shouldn't be
Limousine - no, automobile, car, lots of options with engine
Satellite - burn when coming back into atmosphere, but not meant to be combustible
Sink - engine+sink is submarine
Skyscraper - buildings can burn; hvac could be skyscraper+engine but nothing obvious sticking out
Thief - movie about stealing cars like Fast and Furious series would work and avoid limousine
Well - tuned, running, oiled all go with well and engine

hoping you have ideas

well, satellite hits tv so kinda blocks car stealing movies for thief/engine

but thieves aren't combustible

really only satellite and skyscraper are combustible options since fence/limo are out

satellite+engine would be rocket tho

so yeah I think skyscraper is best

I'm fine with those if you wanna bold em up. I don't see anything else I like even a little bit.

yeah; not gonna play the 'other clues' game with skyscraper when all the other options suck
