Box Office Draft 2026 Thread
Proposed rules:
- No January movies
-10 teams, 8 picks per team (no January and maybe still a reduced number of movies?)
-$350m cap on each pick (Maybe move this? Was 325 last year, seemed to work well moved it up to 350)
-Standard snake draft of the ABABABAB variety (only 6 of us and there are 6 bangers, so no need for 6th to go first 2 rounds in a row)
-Most North American box office at the end of January 2027 wins
Note: If your movie gets (1) moved to 2027 or (2) does not get a theatrical release or (3) gets a simultaneous streaming/theatrical release (be wary of Netflix films!), you may pick a movie that went unpicked, but it must be at least two weeks from release.
For substitutions only: $250m cap if its a 1st round pick, $150m cap for a round 2 pick, $100m cap for round 3 & 4, $75m for round 5 & 6, $70m cap for round 7 & 8, and $50m cap for round 9 & 10.

If anyone wants to join you have until 1/5 or the first round of picks takes place. First pick is on Aaron.
Haven't really started looking at this year's movies. But this movie seems like a sure bet to cap:
Avengers: Doomsday
Good luck to all and Happy New Year!
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie
Seems like a safe cap after the first made 574 mil
Spiderman: Brand New Day
MCU still capping , and spiderman is actually good
Toy Story 5 will cap, which works for me
The Odyssey
Somewhat of a risk and Nolan has burned me in the past, but it has the most upside.
I picked out 3 movies last night and D1iabol1cal was kind enough to pick one of them so
Minions 3
Moana
Yeah, I knew you'd take those...they are really the only surefire blockbusters left imo.
I never thought I'd be taking this again, but just gonna yolo
Michael
Yeah, I had Minions slightly ahead but Odyssey and Moana were a coin flip for me after that.
Minions is a much safer bet than Odyssey for sure. I think I made a dumb pick in hindsight lol.
I donβt like this pick but gonna go Star Wars Mandalorian and Grogu
This thread is moving way faster than my list making
Supergirl I guess
Dune 3
Jumanji 3
Give a sec for my next pick
The Cat in the Hat
Project Hail Mary
Ah, that was going to be my pick.
The Devil Wears Prada 2
Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping
Disclosure Day
This was my second pick to Hail Mary. A Spielberg/John Williams Sci-Fi film in the third round has to be solid value. I went Hail Mary because it is Lord/Miller directing a Ryan Gosling film authored by the same guy who wrote The Martian. It's The Martian that swayed me, but could be wrong.
