I've never heard these 3 before.
After 2 of the mandatory 5 listens.....

Urban Dance Squad takes the early lead based on just their hi-energy performance.
The other 2 have 3 more chances to show what they're made of and make up ground.

I've now listened 4 times to each song.
I'm busy tomorrow so I'll do the 5th listen tonight and do the reveal then.

Starting the reveal.
Nobody picked U2? Maybe they don't have any songs that start with "D"?

BRONZE MEDAL - Booker Wolfbox for "Dancing With Tears In My Eyes" by Ultravox.

I compared this to the one Ultravox LP I bought years ago.
This sounds so homogenized compared to the original '77 Ultravox .
So, after just a few listens it becomes annoying.
I believe it's that repeating rhythm track that runs the length of the song.
It just flattens everything in it's path (and not in a good way).

SILVER MEDAL - aaronk56 for Dreammare by Uriah Heep.

from Wikipedia about the LP that this song came from:
"Rolling Stone magazine's Melissa Mills began her review by saying, "If this group makes it I'll have to commit suicide. From the first note you know you don't want to hear any more."

Oh, Uriah Heep weren't that bad.
I was never a fan of this trend when the 60s turned to 70s to make everything as heavy as possible.
However, I did have a few favourites so I was fine with it when done right.
This one just any nearly heavy enough.
What's with all those "la la la la"s?

GOLD MEDAL - Eric for Demagogue by Urban Dance Squad

When your competition is Ultravox and Uriah Heep, you don't even need to break a sweat to get gold.
However, Urban Dance Squad do break a sweat.
Intense.
That's all that's needed.

Looking forward to another 2+2 Speed Walrus.
However, it needn't be me who is the judge here.
Anyone want to volunteer to be the next judge? The only qualification: be able to "rate the record" in 48 hours or less.

Meanwhile, here's another U-D song that I was using to get Ultravox from repeating in my brain:
