SIDES - Inaugural Game Thread
In this thread, we will play a new word game called Sides. It's somewhat similar to codenames, but cooperative and different.
Sign up with /in below if you want to play.
In this game, a target word will be randed as will a row of 7 cards that have letters on them (most 1 letter, some 2/3/4 letters).
2 people will be the guessers and everyone else will be able to give a clue.
The clue given must start with the letter on either the first or last card (the 'sides' of the row).
We discuss as a team who will give the clue with open discussion in the thread such as "I have a 7 letter word starting with a C"
Once there is some agreement on who gives the clue, that person will bold the clue they want to give in the thread.
The two guessers will then discuss in the thread and bold their guess. If it's correct, we move on to the next guessers and the next word. If wrong, then the clue givers post some info like "you are warm" or "you are about 30% there" etc to give directional info on how on track/off track their guess is.
Then they discuss and give another clue. But the person who bolded a clue cannot give another clue for the same word until everyone on the cluing side has clued a word (if we take that long to get the word), so one person can't hog the cluing.
Clues have to be one word, or an acronym, etc like in codenames; they can be hyphenated words
We can also give some info on how the clues relate to each other, or even say a clue is a 0 clue, so the opposite of what cluing for (e.g., clue 'colorful' as an opposite clue because the word is zebra)
I'll provide more details and examples in the thread in the morning, but this should be enough info for you to /in and join so we can play.

All you bolt lol
The first thing that comes to mind is girlscout cookies.
Not sure if they're peanut butter and chocolate or if they're coconut.
Let me stew on this.
If they are girl scout cookies then the word is probably just scout.
Makes sense. Want to bold girl scout?
girl scout
Yeah it was scout
I had some fun ideas
M11 is Mockingbird bc main character’s name is Scout
W was webolos, which is a rank in Boy Scouts…I was never in them but knew of the rank so figured bolt may have heard of them for a one shot, but Tagalongs was less likely to shadowfax
Also liked Moonrise m8 as Moonrise Kingdom is about a troop of scouts
Ooh Moonrise is a good one...that probably would've worked.
Tonto's horse (Lone Ranger) was named Scout. Tagalongs are the chocolate peanut butter cookies and they're just okay. Samoas are chocolate coconut and they're the bees knees. Thin Mints are overrated.
Tracker was my t
Round 18:
Cards used: 21
Guessers: bolt/ibd
The Board:
M | T | UNKQ | B | C
The target word:
I've sent it to d1/ervin/zeus
NOTE: These are the final letter cards in the game
m5 comes to mind
c11 not bad either if m5 fails to get them in the right domain
There's like an m6/m8/m10 but I think the best is an m12
I think that could bink on its own
My first thought was m3 but that may only be confusing and only relates through one thing
m3 and c11 are basically the same thing
but c11 leaves m open for m5, which I think is the best clue overall for this target
not sure what m6/m8/m10 are; I know of an m8 that is OK, but not a one shot nor as good as m5
I think m12 is the way to go...
Think of an m6 that could have something to do with ours and go off of that
I'm not sure what m6 or m12 are
let's see what d1/zeus think; maybe they have bangers
you know m6...just wiki or whatever
And then m12 is a big word from that, may seem shadowfaxy but I think it's kind of self-explanatory
m6 by itself won't get our word and could be anything. variations of m6(including m12) is the way to go imo
yeah m12 could work
I like m12 or m8 but its a bit of a shadowfax
M12 seems like the best play so far, as much as I like m5
Let’s see what d1 thinks
Not a big fan of m12 because if they haven't heard of it (which is quite likely), then it could lead them wildly off track. I don't think it's self-explanatory what it is at all.
What would be a better route to go? Just seems we can clue that and they can perhaps figure out m3/c11, vs the other way it's unlikely they'll figure out m12
Kinda hard to figure out other clues if you don't know what the word means. There's a few ways we could go with this really. There's the m5 in another domain or even c6 in a different domain again. There's a c16 that's pretty decent and should have them on the right track at least, and then can just clue m8 or whatever to pick it up if they miss.
If the m12 whiffs, then this becomes much harder.
I think they can deduce what m12 means
Otherwise m5 always a good one tho we should talk other letters for backups regardless
