SIDES - Inaugural Game Thread
In this thread, we will play a new word game called Sides. It's somewhat similar to codenames, but cooperative and different.
Sign up with /in below if you want to play.
In this game, a target word will be randed as will a row of 7 cards that have letters on them (most 1 letter, some 2/3/4 letters).
2 people will be the guessers and everyone else will be able to give a clue.
The clue given must start with the letter on either the first or last card (the 'sides' of the row).
We discuss as a team who will give the clue with open discussion in the thread such as "I have a 7 letter word starting with a C"
Once there is some agreement on who gives the clue, that person will bold the clue they want to give in the thread.
The two guessers will then discuss in the thread and bold their guess. If it's correct, we move on to the next guessers and the next word. If wrong, then the clue givers post some info like "you are warm" or "you are about 30% there" etc to give directional info on how on track/off track their guess is.
Then they discuss and give another clue. But the person who bolded a clue cannot give another clue for the same word until everyone on the cluing side has clued a word (if we take that long to get the word), so one person can't hog the cluing.
Clues have to be one word, or an acronym, etc like in codenames; they can be hyphenated words
We can also give some info on how the clues relate to each other, or even say a clue is a 0 clue, so the opposite of what cluing for (e.g., clue 'colorful' as an opposite clue because the word is zebra)
I'll provide more details and examples in the thread in the morning, but this should be enough info for you to /in and join so we can play.

Oh yeah Ervin even mentioned it but it’s 2 words, so wouldn’t count anyway…that’s why I dismissed it
I looked it up before posting and saw it can be spelled as two words or as a compound word.
How we doing vs our best
Bink!
Round 19:
Cards used: 24
Guessers: ervin/ibd
The Board:
RG | C
The target word:
I've pmed the word to d1, zeus, bolt
NOTE: THESE ARE THE FINAL LETTERS IN THE GAME
c6, c8
g7 from another way
g4 from another
but really r7 is the 100% lock
C6 smh c7
I dont like g7
Unsure on r7 as in what it is
you'll know r7 when I clue it; it's good enough don't technically need to wait for d1 and bolt but I like everyone to get a chance to weigh in
if someone has a 100% lock banger with C we may decide to keep RG for next turn to have 2 letters instead of 1
No closet or crew for skeleton has me worried but odds are just overthinking it and they didn’t go to c clues because figured it’s straightforward that bones = skeleton…but if that’s the case then why even give 4 confirmers that we can’t think of in the first place and not give the more obvious crew or closet confirmers (tho maybe r3/r7/g4/g5 are super obvious once we know them)
So while we prolly just guess skeleton, I have huge doubts and am worried about it
G4 was Grim. I actually was gonna just say that we didn't need confirmers because it was so easy, but I didn't think it could hurt to add a couple either.
And btw, that Karate Kid scene was the first thing to pop in my head when I saw that word lol.
I think c8/9 is basically a lock, but yeah r7 if you wanna be super duper safe.
R7 was the clue I thought of as soon as I saw the DM.
There are actually 2 r7s that are locks
Will be interesting to see which of the 2 everyone has been thinking about
I'm thinking about the r7 that is an actual lock and not the one that isn't.
Both are pretty lock but one is 100%; the other is a shadowfax in the wrong group of people
It's also completely unnecessary to risk it.
ROYGBIV
Well, those are the colors of the rainbow.
And the other r7 could be Reading
C6 colors?
C8 colorful?
Yeah, I’m 100% on rainbow.
I guess the other r7 could be rainbow and then the target could be prism, but I doubt that’s a word on the list.
Still on rainbow
Red! Orange! Yellow! Green! Blue! Indigo! Viooooolet!
Rainbow
Yeah once we clued r7 felt like we had to go roygbiv and not clue with c card bc you may think rainbow was an r7
G7 was garland who sang somewhere over the rainbow in Wiz of Oz
G4 was gold, there is roughly a pot sized amount of it at the end of every rainbow
You did best clue imo, was unmissable and no debate needed
Round 20:
Cards used: 25
Guessers: ibd/bolt
The Board:
C
The target word:
I've pmed the word to d1, zeus, ervin
NOTE: THIS IS THE FINAL LETTER IN THE GAME
welp
