SIDES - Inaugural Game Thread
In this thread, we will play a new word game called Sides. It's somewhat similar to codenames, but cooperative and different.

In this game, a target word will be randed as will a row of 7 cards that have letters on them (most 1 letter, some 2/3/4 letters).
2 people will be the guessers and everyone else will be able to give a clue.
The clue given must start with the letter on either the first or last card (the 'sides' of the row).
We discuss as a team who will give the clue with open discussion in the thread such as "I have a 7 letter word starting with a C"
Once there is some agreement on who gives the clue, that person will bold the clue they want to give in the thread.
The two guessers will then discuss in the thread and bold their guess. If it's correct, we move on to the next guessers and the next word. If wrong, then the clue givers post some info like "you are warm" or "you are about 30% there" etc to give directional info on how on track/off track their guess is.
Then they discuss and give another clue. But the person who bolded a clue cannot give another clue for the same word until everyone on the cluing side has clued a word (if we take that long to get the word), so one person can't hog the cluing.
Clues have to be one word, or an acronym, etc like in codenames; they can be hyphenated words
We can also give some info on how the clues relate to each other, or even say a clue is a 0 clue, so the opposite of what cluing for (e.g., clue 'colorful' as an opposite clue because the word is zebra)
I'll provide more details and examples in the thread in the morning, but this should be enough info for you to /in and join so we can play.

Just to be super clear for future games, the word has to be exact, right? So hunter/hunting wouldn't have counted as correct?
I think this is what we decided before
plural would be fine, but different forms like hunter/hunting would not
but I don't care much which way we go; I think we decided it's simpler to just make it exact rather than making judgement calls each time; plus adds a slight bit of difficulty to a game that we are doing well at

But which version shouldn't really affect the meaning of spirit of the clue imo so shouldn't matter much

there is no p8 version of my p5
I'm still thinking I can clue p5 and then one of ya'll can clue k4 to the right of it assuming they don't know what k4 is, which is likely from just p5, a word that doesn't get it on its own unless they are super into this domain, but is a good combo for a 2-clue get
if w5 is a version of w4 then it's kinda like p4/p5 and w4 is a decent confirmer as well
Yea I don't know what your p5 is, if you think it's great we can try it, I see little difference in k4/k8, just grammatically it works better for the P8 I was thinking(which is from a different P5 but should be relatively easy for you to figure out what I'm going after) - I feel very confident it would get it in 2, by itself the p clue I'm thinking of is quite useless

Parisian could just be a stand-in for French or European.
Seems like it should be gettable if we can figure out the k4/8, and there can't be too many of those I wouldn't think. Kind/kindness and kilo/kilogram is all that's coming to me right now.
If k8 wasn't mentioned, I would say this could be gram or metre, but kilogram would obviously make no sense if that was the case.
Nice is a French city, which also works with kind, but there's no way that could be the answer.
So all that is to say, I have nfi.
I like the Nice idea and would like it a whole lot more if they’d gone with p5 Paris instead of p8.
Maybe it's a royale with cheese
