The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof is of the LORD.
In ancient times, lots were sometimes used to choose leaders in religious groups within a special religious ceremony involving prayer. That special situation is likely the only event that the verse is referring to. I doubt that the Cowboys-Giants winner was chosen by God.

It's just whatever your interpretation is and what you believe. I'm sure there are two or three thousand denominations who have it pegged and all the other ones are going to hell. It's a game, this kind of religion is ... a game more predatory and exploitative than the games of chance in the casinos.
