Starting a new Religion...

I was wondering, since I have a few free hours this week, I thought about starting a new religious faith.

-what would you like to see incorporated in the faith?
-should it be monotheistic or is it better to have multiple gods?
-are men and women created equal, or are women subservient to men and the offspring?
-are animals capable of having a soul?
-if animals capable of self realization and have a soul, should they be created equal?

anything else you would like to see added?

definitely the initiation ritual when the adolescents get told it's all BS, as outlined in my thread.

I would prefer the number of gods be a prime number. Catholics have covered 3, GoT has covered 7, so I would go for 5, as 11+ seems exessive.

Your religion should encourage & celebrate female promiscuity the same way the current society does for male promiscuity! 😀 I can't see how this wouldn't be a win for everyone!

Why re-using the soul concept in the first place? Maybe have different levels of souls, or souls with parts related to the 5 gods!

You mean treated, right? Creation would stay the same I suppose.

"It is always good to give up an antiquated belief ... whether about oneself, life, god, etc."

The purpose of life is self-expression, self-realization, the realizing of inherent potentials. For each thing it is this: a mustard seed, a human being, the universe itself. That fact is so obvious and evident that it is overlooked; to wit, we look for purpose in any of a thousand gods delivering purpose to us supernaturally, so claimed then obviously debunked as mythological. The Source of, say, the DNA of a human being, is a mystery, a grand one for sure. And so a spiritual discipline aligned with this principle is a good starting place for a religion, as opposed to, say, gods that kill you and smite you if you misbehave, or are an unclean woman, or a homosexual, or some other ridiculous prejudice of a society blamed on god.

For a human being, the individuation and realization of the potentials of the self is the path of nature and of morality. There are archetypes and exemplars of this "way," but no magic supernatural stand-ins. Take note: "I am the way" is very, very close to "This path of mine is the way" ... and we know how religion corrupts such things into canned holiness.

Not “can destroy you” — it will destroy you.

Any path where the self is destroyed is illegitimate. You are speaking of unlocking potentials of the self while your path leads to its death -> non starter.

The soul and the supernatural are not optional.

Good thing they didn't say "old." "Antiquated" is relative.
