Looking for some thoughts on a live MTT staking structure.

Looking for some thoughts on a live MTT staking structure.

I mainly play live MTTs, ABI ~€250–300, with moderate volume (a mix of local series and larger international stops). I’ve been discussing a staking deal structured as follows:

I cover 20% of all tournament buy-ins out of pocket
The backer covers 80% of all tournament buy-ins
I also cover 20% of all travel and accommodation expenses, while the backer covers the remaining 80%
Only the backer’s contributions (80% of buy-ins and 80% of travel/accommodation expenses) are included in makeup
My 20% contributions (both buy-ins and expenses) are not included in makeup and are fully separate from the makeup account
Standard makeup rules apply only to the backer-funded portion

Profit distribution:

First, my initial 20% contribution is not part of makeup and is not ā€œrecoupedā€ from it
Makeup is cleared only against the backer’s 80% contributions
After the backer’s makeup is cleared, remaining profits are split 50/50 between me and the backer

I understand that 50/50 is standard for fully backed players, but I’m trying to understand how common this structure is in practice when the player contributes 20% of both buy-ins and expenses outside of makeup, while only the backer’s 80% is subject to makeup.

Not really looking for a ā€œgood/bad dealā€ assessment — more trying to compare this to typical partial staking structures and whether adjustments are usually made in similar situations at this ABI level.

Appreciate any input from people with live staking experience.
