This last wild card should not exist. .500 team. They cant pitch, they are not good and here we have exciting last 6 games. So lets enjoy it. I say we do it for bobojedafan. He is what I want, it comes down to last game, win and in. Up by 2 in 7th inning, the other guys have the bases loaded, 1 out, we need to get out this......and here comes.... Hesley.
pathetic

Short term profits over long term destruction of the sport, this will feel like the nhl and nba regular season soon enough, we'll get bored of football too when they figure out how to make it every day
We will leave NO STONE UNTURNED in figuring out why we suck! - Steve Cohen
The manager is 100% coming back. - Steve Cohen like 5 seconds after game 162
They did a real thorough investigation and considered all options.
I ****ing quit.

Mendoza has blackmail on Steve Cohen. Thatβs the only logical explanation.
Thereβs no way you can keep a manager after the a massive collapse like that.
I am a mendoza fan club member, so I may have read posts above , but also maybe I didnt see anything. Everything will be great next year, its fine I tell ya.
I dunno what sterns is on about, "we need better run prevention" or some autism nonsense. The pitching stinks, I dont really care if vientos had a few bloopers. It was 100% the pitching, would ne nice to hear him say that. Do not appreiciate his voodoo words
I actually don't agree it's 100% the pitching.
Even though the pitching was ultimately the worst part of the team, how bad the defense and especially how bad the offense were, were underrated issues. I've never seen an offense be so consistently good when its 10 to 2 runs behind or 4 runs+ up and so horrendous "when it matters." for a whole damn season. We kept hearing all August how the Mets offense had the best numbers in team history blah blah blah but they went 10-17 or whatever. Look August was the pitchings fault primarily but I suspect an average offense also would have went roughly 10-17 with the same pitching figures supporting it. That 'amazing' offense didn't get it done.
To me these inconsistencies coupled with every pitcher stinking in the same way (flaming out in the 4th/5th) just HAS TO be a leadership issue.
Well everyone got fired except mendoza. Big mad, everyone got axed.
Read something interesting, Schwaber. So if we go after him, you know Pete is gone. But.. if Pete wants soto money, until he is 55+, what can you do.
HATE trading Nimmo for a guy that's further into his decline. I thought we were done with the money saving deals when Wilpon left.
Nimmo was such a fun Met too.
**** this ****. I’m a yankees fan again.
Depressing. I liked lindor, nimmo, alonzo, soto lineup. Did not work last year, but its so good to me. Gone. Blew it up, ok w/e. I just wanted pitching. I can understand nimmo, only because they say we have kids that gotta come up and pay now. So, ok, cant hold that up. Even if you can get 2-3 more good years out of nimmo, do it.
But Diaz and Alonzo, we are supposed to be the richy rich of mlb, Diaz stays if you give him 4 or 5 years. I know he would rather play with a champ but if you give him the extra years he is staying, Pete just match it.
Do we or do we not have a big spending owner? Spend for that and add to it and lets get a ring, but no, let the dodgers spend all the money. So it wasnt true then about we are gonna get the star players, cause they walkin out the door....
Uncle Steve turned out to be a penny pinching billionaire. Meh.
Peralta acquisition was ****ing HUGE. he is an ACE of SPADES

2-0, on our way to 162-0.
Blevins' and Zeile's defense of that atrocious send could be a George Orwell novel.
It was more painful watching them then watching the send.
OH and I got to be at citifield Game2 for Ceremonial 1st Pitch thrown by Mr. Bob OJeda π
Typical ways to get unlucky in today's game are bullpen blowups and good at-bats that result in hard hit outs many 3-2 pitches that land just on the corner in big spots. While bullpen blowups do happen more to bad bullpens, every reliever today is roughly the same person and these things are highly random.
As such I felt good about the 2024 team even into May, the 2025 team, to some degree, ran poorly
This team, if anything....they've ran overly positive in the bullpen randomness, and every at-bat is non-competitive garbage.
This team sucks. Season is over, 90+ losses.

New York Mets: Spring 2026 Hopes Down the Facking Drain
McLovin, I'm kind of disappointed. We learned in '06, '07 and '08 that certain people can't make the Mets thread. And then later we learned to never change the title. By changing the title of the thread from we ****ing quit...well, this is on you man.
It was nice to see Carlos Mendoza finally get to contribute today. When you have a team this reliable, usually all a manager has to do is write 9 names down, sit back, and watch... and that's usually what happens. It's really a bit unfair how much credit he gets for it, but today he showed why he was one of the best in the business.
So for those who didn't see I'll recap. 5-4 Nationals B8 and Juan Soto leads off with a double. Again, most Met games are long decided by this point but today there was a small but realistic danger the Mets might win. MJ Melendez (.296/.367/.519) due up, a mid April addition who has at times, struggled to consistently make outs. Mendoza brilliantly PH with Austin Slater (.174/.286/.174) who promptly came through with a right side ground out! Now if I had to make a slight-nitpick,.. he also had Eric Wagaman on the bench who probably should have batted for Soto. After all with a dominant lefty like Paul Blackburn on the mound for Washington the best strategy is to get as many AAA right-handed hitters in as possible, but again it's nit-picking.
It really is just amazing when every part of the team works so well. Ya know the guy I feel the most sorry for is 3rd base coach Tim Lepier. He's kind of like the punter on the late 2000s Patriots. You can count on him if you need it to have someone out at the plate by 30 feet with the bases loaded and nobody out in a tie game late if you need it, but I don't think this team will ever put him in that position again.
And I hope the nay-sayers will admit they were wrong about Stearns. Absurd projections like he turned this into a 90 loss team, were off the mark by at least 10-15 games!
Reminder today is payday for Bobby Bonilla from the Mets until 2035.
