The NHL Thread
For the 5 of us who post NHL stuff, here you go. Officially the season starts Tuesday October 11, although there were tw
Switched over and watched them play the Blue Jackets. Man, they made them look like a bad junior hockey team.
Jets are a force to be reckoned with. Some great teams this year. Playoffs should be awesome and a ton of great hockey yet to go on the road to get there.
It seems like the Bruins have become OT loss merchants almost to the degree that the Leafs are OT win merchants
Some regulation wins! 😀
Leafs recall Samsanov after a good week of not playing him
sucks about Bedard. didn't think the hit that broke his jaw looked that bad tbh...sneaky hard hit I guess.
Roope Hintz is a bad ass. That is all.
The Wild had a rookie in net and the Stars hung 7 on him. And had a goal disallowed for offsides. Oof. Feel sorry for the kid.
Knights @ Avalanche up next. This should be good!
Hit a 3 team point parlay

I had Dallas -1.5. Was too chicken to go -2.5. Figured the 1.5 was already a + number.
I am seeing decent plays lately and they are actually hitting. I must have woken up in bizaro-world a couple weeks ago.
Watched some PWHL yesterday (it's on Youtube where I live). 1st period between NY and MTL was super fun with both teams disinterested in playing D, tailed off after that
Good: apparently no offside reviews
Bad: league insists on copying the NHL by starting games at least ten minutes late
Unsure about: The rule that a penalty is killed by a SHG. Seems like its got potential to produce some fun swings but I don't really agree with the premise of making up for an infraction by scoring and seems like there should be no way teams will actually go all out to score shorthanded given that they're saving themselves like .1 expected goals against by ending the penalty. Any SHG uptick would probably be negated by the slight downturn in PPG anyway
o.k., they might have a plan with this, LOL Possible they sent the kid back down to get some playing time to only call him back for Sunday game where he might start, that's some talk going around anyway.
Also, MLSE getting a new president/CEO as the current one was only temporary or a miracle happens and they are getting rid of Shanahan, lol. I thought that was some interesting news.

What gather extra Airmiles on the company credit card ?
i'd post more, but i'm pretty much only watching the canucks these days (until the playoffs), and tbh they don't score that many highlight reel goals. but here's another neat one from the other day
eternally grateful that the wangz passed on this guy at the draft, so fun having quinn on my team. canucks have never really had a dman like him. just killing it this season, arguably an mvp candidate at this point
How many power plays you gonna give 'em phil?
admit it, part of you is missing that bygone era when you guys spent millions on guys like jay beagle to have the best 4th line in the league
pretty insane how much your gm was able to screw things up and lose a bunch of good players and make a bunch of bad trades and still just get bailed out by having hughes/demko/petterson/boeser all peaking together and random scraps like hoglander/kuzmenko come up and prove themselves to be nhl capable players
like imagine how good edmonton would be if the guys they traded for and brought in were as good as hronek/zadorov/cole/hoglander/dakota/suter/garland/kuzmenko instead of foegele/mcleod/janmark/ryan/brown/gagner/ceci/kulak
just think back to how bad pulvari/yamamoto/other that despite playing alongside mcjesus for huge stretches still couldn't even put up 20 points in a season with 14 and 15 last year
like jfc i as a 40 year old no talent clown could have crawled my way to 20 points skating alongside mcdavid for a year
le sigh in OT again
Yup. Sorry for your loss.
Boeser B. (Pettersson E. + Miller J.T.) [VAN]
Boeser B. (Miller J.T. + Pettersson E.) (Power-play) [VAN]
Pettersson E. (Hronek F. + Miller J.T.) [VAN]
Pettersson E. (Hronek F.) [VAN]
this guy is good huh

ummm, no. that really really really sucked lol

yup, i agree. and have thought about it a lot lol
yeah the amount of wasted capital over the years, cap space and draft picks and free agents lost for nothing etc, it hurts
Bettman probably calling a meeting with the referee’s with two Canadian teams in first and second
