Wander franco under arrest

That’s that I guess

Corbin Burnes to the Orioles for two pretty good prospects. Burnes hits FA after this upcoming season.

Astros adding Altuve 5/125. Hold your comments the guy is an hofer.

Lol Vegas doesn’t want the A’s

Lol Vegas doesn’t want the A’s

The mayor of Vegas wants the A's in Las Vegas. She doesn't want them in Clark County.

It's pretty wild that she publicly says that she prefers for them to stay in Oakland over Clark County though.

Bobby Witt Jr. signed a huge extension with the Royals. Maybe that brings a couple extra "yes" to the stadium question on the April ballot.

So the Royals actually locked up their superstar instead of letting him walk or trading him for prospects at the end of arbitration. Let's hope it works out better than Wander Franco. Big market teams can shake something like that off. Small market teams have to put all their eggs in one basket and pray.

These extensions can definitely work out for the team, too.

Ronald Acuña’s deal is something like 7 years and barely $100M. If he hit free agency after a 40/70 MVP season, he’d have gotten at least 4 or 5 times that amount.

I don’t know if Witt’s gonna be an MVP one day, but his best days are clearly still ahead of him. That’s the area on the aging curve where teams want to be spending the big money.

FWIW, the Bobby Witt Jr. contract is basically for 7 years and $148.7mil unless something bad happens to his career and he doesn't opt out after that.

Still obviously by far the largest contract in franchise history.

Corbin Carroll signed for 8 years and $111M after just 30ish games in the majors. That looks like one that's going to work out pretty well, too. Now they need to do that to Gabby Moreno before it's too late.

Pitchers and catchers have reported. Still feels like I dreamed the Rangers won the World Series. They have been relatively quiet in the off-season but didn't need to make any moves in the field. They are loaded.

Would be nice to re-sign P Jordan Montgomery, but thay are already up against the luxury tax. Easy for me to spend a Billionaires money, but I get it. Could use a bat at DH but some think prospect Wyatt Langford who tore it up in AAA last year might be able to fill that role.

Can't wait.

PS. Put a futures bet on Phillies +1600 and Orioles +1200. Although I think the Braves are going to get it done this year but I don't like th price at only +500. GL TJ.

In my mind’s eye, I see a titanic showdown in the NLCS late in the series with the Braves vs the Dodgers, and I’m terrified of Freddie coming up in a big spot.

Or Shohei.

Or Mookie, he’s a pretty spectacular player too.

That said, there are plenty of other good teams in the NL, including the Phillies. Any of them can run hot in a short series and deny us that showdown. Just like last year.

Still. The legacies and histories and remarkable players involved would make a hypothetical Braves/Dodgers NLCS one for the ages.

Rintaro Sasaki to play at Stanford in 2025.

He's 6' 250 lbs and hit 140 HR at a Japanese high school

Trout possible to Phillies is all the news. But that would be a big mistake. Huge contract for a guy that can't play more than half games, with a back that is degenrating and nothing can be done. I think Angels front office is behind all of this with help from the illumaniti. Trying to dump a huge contract.

If you have YOLO money there's nothing wrong with spending it on Trout and luxury tax.

I wouldn’t take Trout for free on the Mets.

lol taking on Trout

lol at not taking Trout, at least if the Angels eat most of his remaining salary.

Oh well yea. Obv I meant lol taking on that idiotic contract

Ohtani at DH for a full season in that monster LA lineup. If he and Freeman and Betts are in the lineup all year, the potential for some big stats, like 150 runs scored or 150 RBI seem very possible.

I don't root for injury, but I'll wager all three are on the IL at the same time at some point this season.

I imagine injury rates for DH's are very low. Ohtani's injury history is mostly from pitching, and Freeman has been very healthy.

All 3 on the IL at the same time? I'd think that most likely doesn't happen.

In May 1988 Greg Maddux threw a 1-0 complete game 10 inning shutout.

In his next start he pitched into the 11th (167 pitches) where it was 0-0 though 10 and lost.

3 months later Wrigley Field got lights.
