Feel like UConn might only beat the Illini by 12

by gmcarroll33 k

Why was Trimble not in the game is what I want to know instead of Wojcik? Out of nowhere Hubert starts playing an unathletic Brown transfer that he barely played past January minus the Clemson game who brings worse defense and the same offense. The team must have fought at the half or something. Otherwise that’s just plain stupid at the wrong time.

Better question is why didn't Ryan touch the ball in the last 6 minutes for longer than a touch pass or handoff.

Illinois can give Uconn a game. They have starters 6'6 across the board and they can all post up and shoot(besides Rodgers who may not play much vs UConn). Intriguing matchup.

The Illinois 5 can shoot threes so Hawkins may pull Clingan out.

I blame it all on Hubert for having Wojcik in for the entire 2nd half and the defense having zero respect and hedging accordingly on the guys that could score. Seriously the plus minus with him on the court for that period had to be just awful. Trimble and Cadeau playing significant minutes would have equaled hit shots that they probably won't repeat, but the would have brought better defense and pace pushing, but instead they get sat for the majority of the 2H for a guy who hasn't played any significant minutes since January and is unathletic and let the lanky white dude go to work? WTF WAS HUBERT THINKING?

Even despite the stupidity of Hubert's decision, this game goes totally different if Bacot makes the dunk and Withers doesn't out of nowhere jack a 3 with the game on the line. Oh well that's March I guess. Coaches do stupid **** and better teams lose.

Playing in the bar poker league last night, so the games were on, but wasn't really paying attention.

Interesting to go through the thread afterward, and try to match the comments up with the pieces of action I caught.

Somebody had to do it, I guess.

Sorry, heels.

Sorry heels

I'm sad.

But the reality is, if we made it to the FF, we weren't going to beat UConn, anyways. Still would have liked to have a chance, though.

Hubert Davis special always delivers

HD did more in the tourney in his first season of coaching than Painter has done in Painter's whole career.

All we can hope is that HD learns from this, and he will. Hard to believe this was only his third year of being a HC. Overall, he's done a pretty damn good job and showed us a lot this year. Excited to see him start forming the roster for next season around what we already have. Hopefully RJ, EC, HI, Seth, Washington, and Withers are all back.

A bittersweet farewell to Mando.

If RJ is back you can probably say buy to Ian Jackson or Seth if not both. I’d prefer he move on to whatever the next level of bball might bring him. If I’m Jalen Washington I’m transferring. His skill is shooting, but Hubert played him 98% the same way he did Bacot. He’d be better at a place where the bigs spread to the 3 pt line.

I'll take 5th year RJ over any of those guys, especially if EC actually improves his shot and returns. I don't know much about Ian other than he's highly rated and projected to be very good, but as we see time and time again, experience wins.

If we can't have all 4, then it's ideally RJ/EC/Ian with Seth leaving, which would also line up with what Redd posted a few weeks ago about the Seth transfer rumors.

Re: Washington, yeah not sure what will happen there. But he has a big path to playing time with Mando gone. Hopefully him and HD can work out a proper roll if Washington returns.

Need Rick Barnes to Rick Barnes tonight.

Aidoo versus Kalkbrenner is fun. Kalkbrenner shows up for the occasional big game

hey tj, so sorry and preemptive apologies for an impromptu question
was wondering if you have the ability to universally unsee or even care a lot about the lines on tarheel basketball

good to see hatfields and mccoys still feuding

I feel better about tonight's game than I did before last weekend. Houston has size and toughness, but no main rim protector, which was dukes major problem in most of their losses this season. The speed and shooting definitely favors duke and if they shoot well early, they've got a real shot at winning this game through opening the lane for drives and filipowski (and mitchell for that matter) in the middle being taller than anyone on houston (6'8" max) who receives meaningful minutes.

A lot of people talked about JMUs ability to turn the game into a sloppy physical slog like UT last year, but that was inane. This Houston team is the team that can do that. They're strong and physical and play at a very slow, near virginia-like pace. If filipowski gets in foul trouble early or just gets shook, it should be a comfortable (but maybe not easy) win for houston. If I were to bet on this, I'd still put money on Houston, but its nice to think there's a legit shot at an upset unlike last week when I was just prepared for this team to make the sweet 16 and then get blown out.

That said, let's go state.

PACK ATTACK

This would be a delightful start.
