teams can lose draft picks for such shenanigans, no?

In theory yes but realistically it would max be a fine. The Bucs didn't get any known penalty for never listing Brady on the injury report even though he apparently played the full 2020 season with a torn MCL.

But I don't get why a team would change the listed injury from knee to calf if it's still the same knee injury that had been listed on every prior injury report?

Those things seem similar enough to me - I mean, why not just call it a leg injury - that it seems unlikely to be punished. I can’t say I know the details of the rule.

I’d be curious to know how detailed the league expects you to be - for example Frank Ragnow had about six different injuries going at the end of the year, are you supposed to list them all?

Can't remember ever seeing more than two things listed. Sometimes it's also a combination of injury/illness or injury/personal.

Pretty sure context matters. I doubt anyone cares too much if a special teamer is listed as questionable with a foot or hand injury. If your starting QB is listed as questionable with an illness while he actually has a torn ACL, that's obviously a way bigger deal. Especially if we're talking about a QB where an "out" designation would shift the line significantly. If it coincides with a lot of money coming in on the other team and the under, we're probably talking FBI investigation.

If you've ever worked for a big corporation, there's always a way to make these things happen w/o anyone coming out and saying it.

If L'Jarius was having some calf issues as well as the ongoing knee issues, it would in both his (for potential free agency) and possibly the team's (competitive) interest for him to report the calf instead of the knee as the reason he sat out of practice.

Either that or the knee bothered him all year and put him on the injury report and made him miss practices, and then at the end of the year the knee was fine but he had calf issues that put him on the injury report and made him miss practices. It's possible.

I went ahead and checked the Chiefs injury reports. After week 3 he didn't miss a single practice with the "knee" injury designation. A couple times he was LP though. Only when they changed the designation to "calf" before the Bengals game in week 17 did he start missing practice.

Seems like most people interpret Chris Jones recent "KC" tweet as a sign they have an agreement in place but can't get it signed before they have the cap space through a Sneed trade. They obviously can always just restructure Mahomes but apparently don't want to go that route unless absolutely necessary because you can't undo that.

Even his pants choke

another turnover inside the red zone

Justin Madubike 4-98/75 with $53m signing

Pretty good deal all round.

I’m really interested in what happens with Brian Burns. Panthers don’t seem keen to sign him long term (which seems strange but lol Panthers). So maybe they trade him. Letting him play the year on the tag then letting him leave seems to be the worst option…so that’s prolly what Tepper makes happen

Pretty happy Ravens made it happen. All but confirms Queen is not coming back, but obviously everyone in the league knew he wasn't.

Queen is fool’s gold IMO. He was average until Roquan got there. No way I’d pay mega $$ for him at that position

It's true. He's been a totally different player since Roquan arrived.

Either Jones signs for something under $30M APY or he doesn't sign with the Chiefs imo. I don't see the team budging or him settling for less than the max. If teams are really willing to offer him more than Donald, he's gone imo.

There's so much smoke and nonsense this time of year. Never know what to believe.

I still think there's a good chance Jones is gone and Sneed stays long term. Or maybe I'm just wishcasting. I love Sneed.

If I was the Chiefs it would be the length of deal I’d be as concerned with. I know he’s younger than we all think, but just don’t see him operating at this level for more than a year or two.

The Donald deal remains very expensive to get out of for at least another year and maybe two iirc. And he didn’t play to the deal last year already, albeit he was still good

If they gave him 3-90/60 then I’d be ok with that but if it’s 4-120/75 or Sth with a huge signing bonus meaning the dead money in yr 3 is huge then I reckon it’s worse

Jerry Jeudy to the Browns for a 5th and 6th round pick.

At the trade deadline the Broncos apparently declined a 3rd and 5th for him. No idea what they are doing.

Jeudy still only 24

looks like 5 years with $95m fully guaranteed in first 3 years. Guessing total will be over $150m but first 3 is the key part

oof

Jones was huge in superbowl. Gotta pay him

Probably 3 fully guaranteed years with 2 more added on to kick the signing bonus down the road.

Based on media close to the team the assumption was that the price would only go up once they got to Monday.

He's been an all-pro the last two years. It's basically Donald/Jones and then everybody else.

Nobody in that organization knows what they’re doing and I am here for it

Mac Jones to the Jaguars for (probably) a 6th round pick. So he's going to back up a QB who until recently hadn't missed a start in his career.

If you’re the pats how do you not sign cousins and draft harrison?

With a passable draft and smart signings with the rest of their massive cap space coupled with a last place schedule that’s a likely afc East winner

why would Cousins want to leave/not sign w a dome team to play for a Northeastern team?

I won't talk any crap on this. But I do not agree with the move.

I’m sure if he gets 110/2 fully guaranteed he won’t give a crap where he plays

meh ATL, LV

he'll be able to play in a dome for good money if he chooses

screw playing in Boston winters
