Something about Mary blew my mind as a kid

I lost my collective **** when I saw he was in it.

Packers at the 11th hour rejected the Trey Lance pick for Rodgers

Where the nfl is today if that trade went through is wild

9ers and ARog would have done what they do best and conspired to find ways to lose in the playoffs but you guys would have way less talent on your roster because of cap reasons

Brock would be in yr 3 as a back up

Packers would have the most loaded roster in the NFL and Love would be a SB champ already

favre - rodgers back to back i bitterly chalked up to lucky binks

when i saw love playing with rodgeristic mechanics in the playoffs last year it led me to believe packers org plays an underrated role in developing superb QBs and it's not pure binkery

god i forgot mahomes signed for 10 years and 450 million. probably worth twice that much even today. such an absurd advantage for chiefs with inflation/exploding cap going forward

As a kid I was always perplexed at Favre's last name being pronounced Farve.

I think I still have a few of his rookie cards with the misspelling.

That contract has already been restructured. He’s still underpaid, but it’s not at $45 mil/yr.

https://sports.yahoo.com/chiefs-restruct...

“The Chiefs restructured his contract in September, positioning Mahomes to make $208.1 million between 2023 and 2026. It was the largest deal over a four-season span in NFL history.”

Cap hits over the next 5 seasons:

$37
$66.2
$68.6
$64.8
$32.5

I know when a contract is too much money and it's not guaranteed, the player has to restructure or get cut but unless i'm mistaken, when a contract is in the team's favor and it gets restructured, doesn't that just mean the money gets moved around to be higher in some years and lower in others where in the end, in this case, it's still 450 for 10, or am I missing something? it's not like a team would just agree to pay the player more money when there are no ways for a player to bail on the contract

some players have leverage when underpaid, especially superbowl winning mvp quarterbacks

In theory, yes, that's what they're doing. But what will likely happen is the restructuring will get to the point of adding on more total money as the contract approaches the end. So he gets the higher AAV now, and the contract will never actually play out for a total cost of $450 over 10. Especially with the massive void years at the end.

The total contract is also worth more like $500, if you include bonuses.

I'm certainly no salary cap expert, but it's highly unlikely Mahomes's AAV won't always be somewhere in or near the top 5 at the position. But even so, we can all agree he's underpaid since, in theory, he should always be the highest cost QB in the league.

The numbers don't quite lineup depending on the source, but they're pretty close. I.e., the source I quoted above says $208.1 from 2023-2026, but this one says $210.6.

"Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to terms on a restructured contract that pays the QB $210.6 million between 2023 and 2026, the most in history over a four-year span, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported on Monday. The agreement could reach $218.1 million with escalators by the end of 2026.

The $210.6 million is guaranteed over the next four years, per Rapoport and Pelissero.

Sides also plan to revisit the deal again after the 2026 season, effectively cutting the remaining years on the deal from eight to three.

In simple terms, the Chiefs moved up money to adequately compensate the NFL's best player and shortened the deal to give Mahomes another shot at a pay day as QB contracts continue to rise.

that seems very nice of the chiefs

Can't blame them. The city of KC may never be relevant again when Mahomes is gone.

We'll still have Bobby Witt Jr.! (for a little while, maybe)

Can’t say I’ll miss it

The great suzz! I'm a huge fan of Bobby Witt Jr. !

Looks like you guys have him locked up.

Before we get too deep down the rabbit hole here, let’s make note of the financial structure of the deal, starting with a $7,777,777 signing bonus, & a $2M salary for the upcoming 2024 season. Witt was likely in line for a $1M salary in 2024 before this contract was signed.
2024: $2M base salary, $7,777,777 signing bonus
2025: $7M base salary
2026: $13M base salary
2027: $19M base salary
2028: $30M base salary
2029: $35M base salary
2030: $35M base salary
2031: $35M base salary (player can opt-out)
2032: $35M base salary (player can opt-out)
2033: $35M base salary (player can opt-out)
2034: $35M base salary (player can opt-out)

3 year, $89M club option
2035: $33M
2036: $28M
2037: $28M

We have him locked up for a good while. But the question is will he still be with the Royals and kicking ass when Mahomes hangs it up? Might be tough. Good QBs can play into their 40s.

* 1 QB in the history of the NFL has played well in his 40s

Even with the science and then giant $$ available, Manning x2, Rivers, Ryan, Rape haven’t made it happen

Neck problems, wasn't all that great to begin with, noodle arm, debauched lifestyle

The other contemporary generational QB still won an MVP at 39.

Gotta get a little lucky to fade the injuries obviously.

Chad Henne won a Super Bowl at 37.

brand new digs for JOE and CIN

Increased WiFi? Bungles finally getting 4G up in here

Want a troll owner to build a 1930s locker room just for the lolz and pretend it's the new locker room.

Just give it to the visitors.

I tried to see if there are any locker rooms regulations and didn't find anything specific. Surprised the NFL doesn't mandate specific requirements.

I assumed Jerryworld already had Whites Only locker rooms. Huh, learn something new every day
