2024 F1 Season.

2024 F1 Season.

Seeing as no one has started a new thread yet I thought I would.

Will Max win everything again?

Has Lewis made the right decision to switch?

When will Horner get sacked?

Is 24 races far too many?

Predictions for the season?

Mine is Perez will get replaced mid way through the season and Lando will actually finally win a race

What is Marko supposed to have done that means he might be suspended?

I know he’s warring with Horner but I can’t find what Marlo’s ‘crime’ is/was

The knives are completely out for Red bull. Next there will be an allegation against Adrian Newey.

I guess I will never be convinced that Ricciardo is the most deserving driver of a seat at Red Bull, he almost always fails to impress me. He’s turning 36 next year and he would not be an upgrade on Checo. He’s made some bad career decisions and team owners should be looking to the future.

Riccardo doesn't 'deserve' anything...

Hmmm, what happened?

Russell, poor bastard.

That car's laying on its side like a dying horse.

The replay showed him closing remarkably fast into Alonso. Made me wonder if Alonso deliberately went slower

This season can't get anything right. The battle between Max and Sainz would've been great imo. This was the one race where you DIDN'T want a Max DNF.

one of Fernando's OFTEN used driving techniques is 'short braking'... Just ask Michael Schumacher.

you can clearly see Fernando doing it here 'Mid' corner:

He's used it to great effect over his entire career to control the momentum of those following him. By controlling the momentum of the car behind, it essentially nullifies the advantage that trailing car has as the pair enters the corner. It's not really 'blocking' because it doesn't involve moving position into the braking area, but it's not that far off. Senna used this technique all the time also when he lacked pace... many racers have.

whether or not he went to far kind of depends on what happened before that incident, because it is possible that Fernando had an issue the corner or two prior that limited his momentum. Suffice to say, that was entirely the reason Russel lost control... he tried to avoid an accident.

Bwahahahaha...

I don't know if it's a curse at this point but the race managed to be super boring despite no max

Fernando Alonso is given a 20-second penalty and was sent to 8th position for "the race-end incident involving George Russell"

Verstappen managed to increase the gap with a stuck brake until it became so undriveable that he failed to make a corner. Without that issue he would have driven off in the distance.

Yah, I was going off Checo's performance as well, where he was nowhere near 2nd and thinking the RB just didn't have it at this track, but it came out that Checo had a tear off stuck to the floor that really screwed up his car as well. So it's probable that the RBs would've been dominant as usual if not for the issues.

Reports that Ricciardo has 2 races to improve or else his career is most likely over with Liam Lawson to get his seat.

Ricciardo is washed, just make the change now. Even if he picks it up slightly, he'll never be a factor nor outperform any semi-competent teammate.

hear hear... he tried, time to move on and get some young blood in that seat.

The only thing I will say about Ricciardo and this is a suspicion I got from last year (but don't quote me) is that he struggles at high speed circuits which is a sign his reflexes and hand eye coordination is going which tends to happen as you get older. Once we return to those more conventional tracks his form should improve enough to see out the year but beyond that if Yuki beats him that is it. Red bull need to go for a younger option.

I guess I got trolled? Hilarious I guess

:p

Williams crashes. Sargeant, not so good.

hear hear... I don't think there is an American capable of competing at these levels because of the Funneling of talent in the European scene. CERTAINLY Logan Sargent is as fast as F*ck otherwise he wouldn't be in the car, but when you are trying to compensate for a poorly performing car, these things manifest themselves. He doesn't have what it takes at this level... he belongs at the top in NASCAR or Champ/Indy car. Maybe top of the line endurance racing.

Can anyone tell me in what right mind were Williams thinking giving Sargeant another year? I get he is American and Americans own Williams but his racing record before he entered F1 was pretty average and there are a number of better options in Indycar that the Americans can go for if they are so hell bent in having an American in their team (which I think is a mistake anyway).

Meanwhile I'm getting sick and tired of excuses for Ricciardo and he needs to start beating Yuki or Liam Lawson can take his seat (which I know would be rough on Dan with Perez keeping his seat despite his performances but we all know that Perez comes with money and the Mexican market)

Williams wants to be seen as a team that gives rookies a chance and don't burn them like RedBull. Next year they most likely take Antonelli from Mercedes in exchange for cheap engines or Bearman in exchange for a bunch of money from Ferrari. Neither were considered ready for this year. So this year was either keep Sargeant for another year or someone experienced on a 1 year contract. I think Williams sticking with Sargeant was not a bad decision taking that into account but it clearly didn't work out.
