Shohei just spoke to the media for the first time. In a prepared statement, he said:
-He never bet on baseball, or any other sport,
-He didn't know that Ippei lied to him, and that Ippei took the money from Shohei's account to pay his gambling debts
-He'll continue to cooperate with the investigation, and play as the investigation plays out.
If all that's true, then this is probably the best possible outcome for his reputation going forward. He's a naive star athlete who trusted the wrong person. It happens.
In any event, these games are about start! Last year, just like we all predicted, "Someone Else" came on strong in the playoffs, as the Texas Rangers defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks for the World Series. Can that happen again?

Don't sell short what Judge and Giancarlo are doing. Both still on pace to shatter season strikeout records. Too bad their monthly trips to the IL are probably right around the corner. Maybe Rizzo can take their place at the top.
True, but they are missing 3 of their actual SPs to the IL(Verlander, Mccullers, and Urquidy) also Luis Garcia. They'll be fine, Al West sucks again.
Going back to last year's playoffs the Astros are 0-9 including 4 straight to the Rangers
They were 4-11 at home in September
They were 6-6 at home in August
And 2-5 in their last 7 home games in July
So in their last 43 games at home they've gone 12-31

Astros won the West last year, and lost in a game 7 Alcs, they're fine even with the home struggles. The Astros and Rangers are nothing special at the moment, but the rest of the West sucks so their isn't much to worry about.
Braves might shatter the run differential record, if this pace keeps up.
