2024 MLB Season Thread
Nobody wants these games to start more than Mannfred.
Shohei just spoke to the media for the first time. In a prepared statement, he said:
-He never bet on baseball, or any other sport,
-He didn't know that Ippei lied to him, and that Ippei took the money from Shohei's account to pay his gambling debts
-He'll continue to cooperate with the investigation, and play as the investigation plays out.
If all that's true, then this is probably the best possible outcome for his reputation going forward. He's a naive star athlete who trusted the wrong person. It happens.
In any event, these games are about start! Last year, just like we all predicted, "Someone Else" came on strong in the playoffs, as the Texas Rangers defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks for the World Series. Can that happen again?
T-Mobile is giving away a free MLB.tv subscription ($149 value) to T-Mobile subscribers starting TOMORROW (Tuesday 3/26 - April 1). Don't miss out.
So speaking of gambling, here are the current best odds for the World Series you can find, from Vegas insider!
When they said Volpe has trouble with breaking balls, they weren't kiddin'
Volpe you pile of ****!
Judge sucks ass and Ohtani is out until 2025. Dream scenario for the networks.
so you’re telling me there’s a chance
One pitch lololol
****
RIP NYY. Shame.
Watching the Yankees lose two games in devastating fashion is just too rich.
Yankees will make a series out of this considering how thin the Doyers rotation is and Ohtani is done
But holy Christ judge blows
Freddie is gonna win WS MVP.
This makes me happy for him, but wistful and melancholy for me.
Yankees in 7
I'll bet Ohtani never steals 30 bases again, maybe never 20. All year I was worried about him getting injured with all that running. A pulled hamstring, a broken finger or hand, a knee ... never thought about a shoulder. But base stealing is rough business. It isn't worth it, even more so as he ages. Only with the great % he had this year is it even that valuable.
Yeah it was a side-quest since he couldn't pitch, but he's going to be pitching again next year so no need for that. It sounds promising that he isn't really hurt at least and could potentially still play.
Ohtani is the GOAT, but has made some dumb decisions along his career to get there. Awful initial contract, gambling on his team, keeping going with the SB thing. You've proved it bro, but you aren't superman as shown by the injuries. Try to actually be able to play through your contract should be the next milestone to hit. Balance being a badass and healthy is important.

he's made some bad decisions. But as far as the awful initial contract. If all he cared about was the money you're right. He basically played for free the first 5 years at least from his MLB salary.
But obviously his motivations are different than what your motivations would be. His goal was to be the best player ever, do play both ways which people said was impossible and he wanted to test himself against major leaguers right then and not wait two years. Either way he was going to be fine financially.
I don't begrudge athletes who want to chase every dollar they can make. That's their right. The owners are billionaires making piles of money. But in general in life I've never understood people be it athletes or those who are rich in business or whatever who need to chase every dollar they can. Once you hit a point it's just numbers on a screen so to me it seems silly to live somewhere you don't want to live, to work at something you don't love doing in business etc to have a higher score.
If he waited until he was 25 a team paying big money wouldn't have been so receptive to him playing both ways. The fact the Angels (or whoever singed him) were paying him nothing gave him the leverage he needed to be able to play both ways.
It's hilarious so called baseball experts thought he wouldn't be able to hit major league pitching and he's absolutely destroyed it.
He probably ended up making more money in the long run with this "awful" contract than he would if he waited until he was 25 to come here even though that obviously wasn't the motivation.
Aaron Judge you ****ing suck.
But in all seriousness its gotta be in his head, this hitting issue is at least 50% psychological in nature.

MLB sucks for ****ing him on the initial contract rules. I'm glad he got paid, just stay away from the Yakuza or whatever is running those Socal books.
The World Series has averaged 14.55 million U.S. viewers in the first two games.
It's averaging 15.15 million viewers in Japan.
Yeah dude's going to be a billionaire off just his endorsement money
ohtani in!
wonder what % he's really playing at?
lol fat joe
wtf
why is some guy rapping on the field instead of World Series game 3 starting?
