Lia Thomas Banned from Paris Olympics

Lia Thomas Banned from Paris Olympics

Hopes and Dreams out the window.

Is this the right thing to do for the olympics? Thoughts?

Also, as your friend and fellow poker player, I was wondering if I could create thread when a lot of people got angry and banned. Thx

Good. Thomas is a narcisstic assclown who thinks it's ok to make a mockery of women's sports. Anyone who thinks it's acceptable has had their brain compromised by toxic tribal politics and is also an embarrassment.

Let trans have their own division if there is such concern about excluding them. Level playing field.

Just as an aside if anyone is interested -it is olympic womens swimming related. -

I'll call this the story the "last time I remember crying like baby."

Last olympics I found myself in the hospital with a strange illness called c-diff. Basically I was pooping myself to death, praying antibiotics would help. Laying there inbetween shuffling carefully to toliet I was watching olympics. Womens swimming came on. It was the 100 meter breast stroke. I know nothing but NBC does a good job telling me real fast who everyone is and the rules.

There is the little high school kid there, 17, they mention her a bit, nice story, but she isn't supposed to win. Quick race there and back. I'm watching the kid, Lydia Jacoby, surrounded by older pros. Race starts, she is hanging in... I start rooting, with only half a length left she is tied. I sit up and point at tv, I'm all alone btw, and mumble the kid.... With about 15 feet left her hand reaches out, she is ahead. I'm now shaking my paw at the tv and like a zombie I shout "the kid" She beats them. They cut the camera to a bunch of high school kids in alaska jumping up and down and I lost it, sobbing like a baby. Disgraceful. Greatest sports moment I prolly ever saw and I know nothing about swimming.

I take no responsibility for what happened. I was near death, they had me all hopped up on antibiotics. It was a moment of weakness.

Okay, I will take the bait. Of course it’s the right thing to do and it’s not reasonably refutable.

From an article I read:

World Aquatics, which sets rules that inform elite competitions, including the Olympics, introduced a new gender policy in June 2022, allowing transgender women to compete in women’s events only if they transitioned before the age of 12 or before one of the early stages of puberty.

That seems entirely reasonable imo

Transitioning gender at the age of 11 seems reasonable to you?

No, but then, neither do a lot of things. I don't personally do those things either. Other people do, and I'm not the arbiter of everyone else.

The point was that a person that went through puberty as a male would likely have a physical advantage when competing against those that didn't. Their rule seems reasonable given that circumstance.

I appreciate the response.
