NCAA FOOTBALL 2024 MEGA THREAD - WELCOME TO THE PLAYOFF ERA
Just 8 days until Florida State plays Georgia Tech!
A lot happened while you were away:
Texas and Oklahoma joined the SEC
The Pac-12 went out in a blaze of glory:
Oregon, Washington, USC and UCLA are headed to the B1G
Utah, Arizona, Arizona State and Colorado are headed to the B12
Cal and Stanford along with SMU are somehow headed to the ACC
Poor old Wazzu and Oregon State are now aligned with the MWC in some sort of in-flux relationship
The conferences are huge now, and the schedules are wildly imbalanced. Florida might have the hardest schedule in the history of the sport, while Missouri's playing a sun-belt slate.
FSU and Clemson play each other, but then play ZERO common ACC opponents
Utah/Baylor and Arizona/Kansas State play non-conference games against conference opponents
LSU and USC play in Vegas!
Boise goes to Oregon, a team they've never lost to!
Texas at Michigan!
Alabama at Wisconsin!
Notre Dame at ATM!
Clemson vs Georgia!
And there are some incredibly juicy new conference matchups:
Texas @ ATM is back!
Texas vs Georgia
Oregon vs Ohio State
USC @ Michigan
USC vs Penn State
And then the bizarre:
UCLA @ Rutgers is now a conference game
Syracuse plays home and away against Cal and Stanford for some reason
Half the teams have new coaches, transferred quarterbacks, or both!
Let's get it on!
How in the world did OSU with this kind of speed, power, and playmakers play so bad against Michigan? I guess they bottomed out right there and bouncing way up.
Given all the players going down around him, I must say this is the best game I've seen Iamaleava play. At times I didn't get it, but this has to fit into the category of "stepping up" and I can see why he was sought-after.
Wait, this isn't tOSU's normal uniforms is it? There's usually silver or gold somewhere?
OSU fans wasting no time employing their once-a-decade SEC chant
I'll take the Buckeyes to advance against the Ducks maybe by injuring Gabriel. Punishing D.
Moar Tennessee fans!!!!
First round turned out to be not so thrilling
I was all about expanding the playoffs beyond 4. I don't understand how you skipped the 8 team playoff phase and checking if that looked right. 8 clearly looks right now. But they are never going to reduce playoff teams, you can't put the toothpaste back in the tube.
Rewarding the better teams with a home game was great for cash but horrible for exciting match-ups. As for 8 looking right remember all the hate TCU got vs Georgia after winning their first round game.
Does Ohio State typically have this many close calls go against them at home? As an Alabama fan, this is striking me as strange.
I believe these were ACC refs, not B1G refs (for obvious reasons). If this were a conference game, of course the answer would be LOLOLOL NO.

We need to expand it to 16 so that we can get all the 3 loss SEC teams in there. Maybe more than that, we can let in all the fraudulent ACC teams to fill out whatever number we need, maybe it's 24. We could have two full weekends just like this one, how great would that be.
Sure feels like if yesterday's version of Texas and Ohio State are the ones we get from here on out, that will be the championship game.
Although tbf I don't fully trust either of those QBs
Well, if Ohio State beats Oregon and Texas beats ASU they meet in the semi-final, so they won't meet in the championship game.
Winner of OSU/Oregon/Texas will meet Georgia/ND/Penn State winner.
i think the national championship will be determined in the rose bowl
rooting oregon, expecting osu
also predicting one of asu or bsu will win

16 is the magic number. 1) it ends all controversy forever becuz nobody actually cares if teams like Illinois or BYU get screwed over. And 2) just get the seeding right and we'll see some good games opening weekend. Btw reseeding after each round seems like a great idea too.

If Ohio State beats Oregon then I'm gonna seriously be depressed cuz then we're officially entering into the ITS HAPPENING phase. Still hope tho. Ohio State having to beat Texas when it's effectively @Texas is a pretty tall task.
coming from a place of strong dislike for wolverine football and helmet stickers
oh how i own my hate for any osu except those located within the historical territorial borders of Oklahoma and Oregon first nation people
no disrespect intended toward the Erie, Kickapoo, Shawnee, Wyandotte, Delaware, and Seneca
just find myself discovering buckeye football with all the same suspicion as christopher columbus did after infecting the new world from the nina, pinta, and santa dysentery

they will choke. Day is awful in close games and their QB isnt nearly as good as the last 5 years (outside the clown from last year).

It was 65-7 with Georgia’s starters eating hotdogs on the sidelines FFS. There is not enough hate like that team should be forced to show up for commemorations of that **** while people throw pies at them and squirt seltzer down their pants.

And if were the first round game I agree. Once you actually win a playoff game you've proved you belong in that playoff.
