NCAA FOOTBALL 2024 MEGA THREAD - WELCOME TO THE PLAYOFF ERA

NCAA FOOTBALL 2024 MEGA THREAD - WELCOME TO THE PLAYOFF ERA

Just 8 days until Florida State plays Georgia Tech!

A lot happened while you were away:

Texas and Oklahoma joined the SEC

The Pac-12 went out in a blaze of glory:
Oregon, Washington, USC and UCLA are headed to the B1G
Utah, Arizona, Arizona State and Colorado are headed to the B12
Cal and Stanford along with SMU are somehow headed to the ACC
Poor old Wazzu and Oregon State are now aligned with the MWC in some sort of in-flux relationship

The conferences are huge now, and the schedules are wildly imbalanced. Florida might have the hardest schedule in the history of the sport, while Missouri's playing a sun-belt slate.

FSU and Clemson play each other, but then play ZERO common ACC opponents

Utah/Baylor and Arizona/Kansas State play non-conference games against conference opponents

LSU and USC play in Vegas!

Boise goes to Oregon, a team they've never lost to!

Texas at Michigan!

Alabama at Wisconsin!

Notre Dame at ATM!

Clemson vs Georgia!

And there are some incredibly juicy new conference matchups:

Texas @ ATM is back!

Texas vs Georgia

Oregon vs Ohio State

USC @ Michigan

USC vs Penn State

And then the bizarre:

UCLA @ Rutgers is now a conference game

Syracuse plays home and away against Cal and Stanford for some reason

Half the teams have new coaches, transferred quarterbacks, or both!

Let's get it on!

It just means more

Gotta update this to include Illinois manhandling USCe!!

Now that paying players is legal and thus the SEC no longer has a monopoly on "cheating", their heyday is done. They had a great run from 06-22 but it's over now. The worst era in college football history has come to an end. Let us all rejoice!!!

Georgia has beaten Alabama two times in the last 20 years. We beat Bama twice last year. Just saying.

This Boise State coach is like totes gay for Jesus.

such a turnoff

Penn State losing the best defensive player halfway through the first quarter probably cancels some of this out.

fair point

so ashton jeanty was supposed to be good? seemed like he was the 3rd best running back in the game today.

did you notice that two of the running backs were pouring through gaping holes while one of the runningbacks seemed like he broke 2 tackles on every single play, even the ones that went for zero yards?

Been waiting a long time for redemption. I have a lot of great memories/stories from attending the ‘97 Rose Bowl. All untellable due to a last second winning TD catch by David Boston.

Today is the day.

Not sure you could even park for $75 at the Rose Bowl today.

If I told you at the beginning of the season that all it would take to get into the final four would be a home win vs SMU followed by a neutral field victory over Boise State, would you have even believed it?

For one of the media darlings? Absolutely. Ped State with two losses? No way.

Jeanty looked like the real deal to me. His first burst was insane and that cutback was razor sharp. If you just switch the teams that the backs are on he runs for 500* yards.

*Except for the fact that FPSranklin is drawn to gadget plays like a moth to a flame even when averaging 12 ypc straight into the A gaps.

I picked Georgia ml in my parlay so ND is a superlock now. I'm 0-5 in my playoff picks so far. Hope ND wins. Georgia has had enough success lately.

Strangely the line swung to ND -1 now. Wonder if all the turds the SEC has been laying has something to do with it.

That's my take too. People keep shitting on him all over Twitter and I came away impressed with him. I would be perfectly fine using a late first rounder on him. He's going to be a star in the NFL, I think.

Jeanty looked to me to have really good vision and short-area quickness. Couldn't get a read on his long speed but I'm sure he's not slow. He's a NFL-caliber back, though I wouldn't take him in the first round. He's tough but I do have some doubts as to how well he holds up to NFL hits at his size.

Penn State's current OC is a perfect match for James Franklin. So in love with their own genius that they FPS themselves right into a competitive game (for most of it). It was hilarious when they showed a graphic in the second half of the PSU RBs combining for almost 200 yards at 8.7 and 7.7 ypc and PSU kept running gadgets and deep dropbacks.

Yeah I was getting pissed off watching that game last night. Just take the free yards and move on ffs.

Jake Plummer looks like he dabbles in stuff

Aim for the foot not the body.

Lol how do you miss that?!

is this the first time an underdog has been ahead in the playoffs?

Was on Penn State but skipped watching the game. Sounds like an unintentionally wise decision in terms of yelling at the television.

Now let's go Sun Devils! Not a hate on Texas, they've just struggled to get margin on teams with starting quarterbacks and my numbers can't get close to 2 tds (I mean how many points am I supposed to deduct for a WR who Texas was probably going to shut down anyway).

**** me.

Clemson

Welp, was fun while it lasted.

Well at least we had a lead in the game, gg

Looks like another blowout coming.

Lol this is a homecoming game for Texas.

We’ll always have the 3-0.

I’m going outside.

Sigh. This games already over.
