NCAA FOOTBALL 2024 MEGA THREAD - WELCOME TO THE PLAYOFF ERA

NCAA FOOTBALL 2024 MEGA THREAD - WELCOME TO THE PLAYOFF ERA

Just 8 days until Florida State plays Georgia Tech!

A lot happened while you were away:

Texas and Oklahoma joined the SEC

The Pac-12 went out in a blaze of glory:
Oregon, Washington, USC and UCLA are headed to the B1G
Utah, Arizona, Arizona State and Colorado are headed to the B12
Cal and Stanford along with SMU are somehow headed to the ACC
Poor old Wazzu and Oregon State are now aligned with the MWC in some sort of in-flux relationship

The conferences are huge now, and the schedules are wildly imbalanced. Florida might have the hardest schedule in the history of the sport, while Missouri's playing a sun-belt slate.

FSU and Clemson play each other, but then play ZERO common ACC opponents

Utah/Baylor and Arizona/Kansas State play non-conference games against conference opponents

LSU and USC play in Vegas!

Boise goes to Oregon, a team they've never lost to!

Texas at Michigan!

Alabama at Wisconsin!

Notre Dame at ATM!

Clemson vs Georgia!

And there are some incredibly juicy new conference matchups:

Texas @ ATM is back!

Texas vs Georgia

Oregon vs Ohio State

USC @ Michigan

USC vs Penn State

And then the bizarre:

UCLA @ Rutgers is now a conference game

Syracuse plays home and away against Cal and Stanford for some reason

Half the teams have new coaches, transferred quarterbacks, or both!

Let's get it on!

He's got the skill, but holy **** would that be a tough job between the conditioning, wear and tear, game planning, etc. Don't think he'd be able to get paid enough to justify it either, even after his rookie contract. But I guess if he's good enough, his draft team could find a way.

I'm a big fan, but he seems to have elite push-off skillz to me.

NDSU is better than plenty of P4 teams. This is an unspectacular win, but it's not embarrassing

I posted that before he threw on 1st when 3 knees win and could kinda agree with you

Then he threw on 1st when 3 knees win and conclude it’s embarrassing

Be that as it may, Hunter is a top 5 pick if he’s only a CB and he’s a top 5 pick if he’s only a WR

He is something else

I feel like I just learned about an announcer’s mommy issues

I would agree that it's not embarrassing. NDSU is a solid program. But at the same time, this was a very narrow win which does not show much improvement from last season. A team with likely first rounders in Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter in Year Two of a new regime (the time when big improvement should kick in) should not have to hang on for a razor thin win in which the difference was the NDSU QB couldn't reach the endzone on the final pass which was caught four yards short.

Passing on first down when they should have been in Victory formation was extraordinarily stupid. That lands on the head coach.

You also have to wonder what Colorado is going to look like a year from now when its elite star power figures to leave for the NFL.

I don't think Minnesota has got a single first down in the entire second half yet.

I'm legitimately raging right now. This Minnesota QB is such a joke. He's single handedly losing this ****ing game.

I, for one, was pleased they went for the cover instead of just the win. Actually it was probably the happiest I’ve felt all night.

Thank god, because we sure aren't doing anything to win it.

North Carolina-Minnesota seems like terrible football ... and yet, the lead keeps changing late and we have drama with just a few minutes left to play ... college football always delivers.

One of these teams is going to win, but neither of them deserves it.

All the **** talking on Colorado, but I feel like NDSU would've mopped the floor with either of these two teams

This is some real bootleg week-1 lookin football

UNC kicker for Heisman

Oh yeah, let's run an option with our dumbass second stringer instead of just giving it to our best ****ing player.

UAB actually looks decent though Dilfer seems to be turning into a dick. I wish Alcorn St was nicknamed “the acorns”.

Chip Lindsey, everyone.

Leaving it in the hands(feet?) of the kicker who has already missed a chip shot is a bold move

There's nothing Mack loves to do more than saving all 3 TOs so he can use one to ice the kicker about to beat him.

Mack is a dead man walking. I'm not even happy about the win.

Of course this awful game comes down to an ice cold kicker out kicking the shook kicker

Mack really said that was a great game with great teams with a smile.

Wow Mac…the years have not been kind. Granted, 4k might be the real villain here.

That was a pretty lit opening Thursday night of football.

Think there's some chance Michigan State could look really good tonight. I fired them at -12 and the line is up from there

I'm on Stanford +270 as well. TCU brought in 24 transfers, while Stanford is #2 in returning production at 85%. They were awful last year in Troy Taylor year 1, but I'm wildly guessing that returning a ton in year 2 of a new head coach is extra impactful. Hopefully Daniels won't share time at QB any more, should be a decent lift there.

High variance spot, weird stuff happens in week 1, and it's a night home game for Stanford so they might even have dozens of fans there. (maybe not with that Friday traffic, actually)

Even money at least 3 of those players are arrested by the end of the season.
