A damn shame Sean wasn't koed or subbed.

Only down from here!

Feels like tonight has set the record for most Official Timeouts in a single card. It's like every fight someone is getting eye poked or kicked in the nuts.

Kudos to you if you watched that full card..

I watched the final two fights. Moicano - Dober was kinda entertaining but the commentary otherworldly bad. In round 2 it took what felt like 30 seconds for someone to address that Moicano was leaking like a fountain. That was Laura Sanko who was the only one to provide any meaningful commentary anyway. There was one point where DC yelled "D'Arce!" which cleary confused Sanko. She responded along the lines of "sorry, from my view I can't see anything right now". DC was sitting next to her.

Main event again proved the current "downed opponent" rule is crap. Dolidze doesn't even have any weight on that hand. He just touches the ground to make kicking him illegal. Sal D'Amato and Ron McCarthy both scored round number 2 for Dolidze. I don't know what to say if you think Roman won any of the first 3 rounds. If you want to give a round to Dolidze, it's #4.

The Jose Aldo film was pretty decent (On Netflix : Mais forte que o Mundo). Had some cheesy moments, of course, and the fights scene not the most compelling, but I do appreciate what the movie tried to do by trying to expose his demons/the drive behind his determination

Topuria gonna cook Volk? big age difference

Topuria gonna cook Volk? big age difference

Very possible, mid 30's is past prime for (almost) everyone at 170 and below (see even Usman, Kamaru) and Volk got solidly KO'd only 4 months ago.

No idea how good Topuria is. UFC obviously didn't torpedo his shot by having him fight anyone (Max, Yair, Ortega) that already lost a title fight to Volk or even Movsar or Allen. Looked very good against Emmett though and would be favored against everyone I just listed. Maybe except for Max that might be a pick'em. Really hoping for Ilia vs Max next, no matter if it's for the title or not.

Volk fights too often.

Volk fights too often.

In exchange for taking the short notice Islam fight they gave him a new contract. According to his manager with a significant pay bump. He might try to fight that out before calling it a day.

I've got Volk in an 8 leg parlay

I expect him to be the only one that wins

Terrible card tonight.

Not even going to bother stealing it.

UFC 298/299/300 are all loaded. Can't remember the last time they had 3 stacked PPVs in a row.

Mackenzie Dern (and her $200k salary) is on the undercard after headlining fight nights last 3 times she was on one and on the PPV portion in her last 3 appearances on numbered cards.

By now I'm even OK if they don't find a headliner for UC 300 and put Garthje vs. Max in that spot.

for as good as the announcers tout how great dern is on the ground, she doesnt really finish as much as the announcers tout her ground game. if shes really as great as they talk her up to be you think she would be finishing more. maybe the womens game is evolving alot faster or shes just not as great on the ground as these announcers are making her out to be? im surprised it was 29-28 unanimous with how wild judging can be, is it a sign that judges arent really giving alot of props to ground game? 1st rd was basically half lemos half dern.

FWIW, Gilbert Burns, 3rd degree BJJ black belt and submission grappling world champion, has one submission win in his last 10 fights.

The scoring criteria is *effective* striking/grappling. In round 1, Dern didn't do very much on the ground while Lemos striking, especially with the legs, was highly effective.

Kinda surprised nobody gave Lemos a 10-8 in the second round. On mmadecisions it's equally split between 10-9 and 10-8. Round 3 obviously 10-9 Dern.

Almost felt bad for Cejudo getting manhandled like that in rounds 2 and 3. Pretty sure that's the end of the road for him. Retiring in 2020 because he wanted more money was a horrible mistake.

Topuria came to run Anaheim and that's what he did

and new...

Who is even on deck for Topuria?

Most of the top 145 guys are just the guys that Volk already beat....Ortega, Max, Yair

Evloev? Think he needs a few more wins

by Onlydo2days k

Who is even on deck for Topuria?

- Rematch Volk
- Max
- Winner of Yair - Ortega
- Movsar with another win
- Sterling with a high profile win if he beats Kattar convincingly
- Even Arnold Allen might only be two quality wins away after the close loss to Evloev

145 is still one of the most stacked divisions. There might be 5 people more deserving of a title shot than Strickland was at 185 last year.

UFC 300 with a 6 fight main card including 8 current or former champions with 3 5-round title fights (if you include BMF) and two potential #1 contender fights. Main event might be the fight I'm least excited for.

I just saw that the main was 6 fights, is the BMF 5 rounds?

Seems a little too big of a main card, Hill/Pereira might not get in there until 1am

Yes, to all of those if you're talking 1AM ET. Card is in Vegas, so 7PM PT local start time.

Last night's main event started around midnight ET?

Pretty sure a decent amount of viewers are done after the BMF fight.

like 12:20-12:30ish iirc

Can't even imagine everything that had to fall through for Hill/Pereira to be the 300 main event

Dana probably figures atleast there should be fireworks with Pereira, can't be having Belal closing the show with a 48-47 decision

If anyone is interested in a bet, for 2:1 I'd say that fight is not going to be the UFC 300 main event.

Dana said they offered Leon 3 different opponents for the main event, he accepted all 3. Belal said he wasn't one of the 3.

Sucks for Belal but while everybody says he deserves a title shot nobody actually wants to watch that fight.

Belal seems to be at a bunch of the events too.

I think he's just going to go mad one day, rip his shirt off, and charge into the ring.

If he was capable of doing that in a non super cringe way he would have gotten a shot already.

Basically the same as in poker. Way easier to get away with not playing many hands if you don't combine that with being a dull personality.

Hill +135 seems high vs Pereira? He won't have to stand with him the way Jiri did

What else is he going to do other than stand with him?
