Milan "The Pride of East Vancouver" Lucic, who was honoured by his junior club the night before, scored the GWG with under 5 minutes to go. He also added two assists in the victory big road victory, which was dubbed as a possible Stanley Cup preview at the time. Tim Thomas saved 27/28 shots, with Manny Malhotra being the lone Canuck to beat him.
