MLB No Hitter Pool
This will be a year long pool, that will reset after each no hitter thrown. Once you sign up you are responsible for your entry, and all financial obligations that come along with it, through the end of the 2017 season.
Purpose
To add some extra interest in sweating the no hitter bids.
Cost
$10 to start, and each time it resets, then additional $5 on the 1st of each month.
Payouts
The owner of the team that throws the no hitter will receive 2/3 of the current pool, with the other 1/3 going to the owner of the team that got no hit. If the no hitter is also a perfect game, each entrant will pay a $5 bonus that will be split the same way.
How it works
I'll be looking for 30 entries, 1 for each MLB team. There will be a cap of 1 entry per person, unless we're not able to fill the pool. In that case, I'll allow people to add a second entry if they wish. Once we're at 30 entries, I'll get a couple volunteers to use random.org to randomize 2 lists. One will be the list of people who joined, the other will be the list of all 30 MLB teams. The 2 lists will be matched up, and you'll have your team. After a no hitter is thrown, the lists will be randomized again, and you'll be given a new team to sweat.
Payment
Paypal/Venmo will be the main forms of payment. If you want to join but don't have either of those, let it be known, and we'll find an easy solution, even if it involves mailing me a check. Since nobody will be on the hook for very much money at any given time, I'd rather not require escrows. However, if this is an issue for the majority, I can make escrows a requirement and I'm willing to hold them, unless somebody has an objection. Otherwise, when a no hitter is thrown, I'll post a list of how much people owe, and who it needs to be sent to.
Who can join
I'd want to open it up to the regulars from the MLB thread first, then fill it with other SE regs from there, before opening it up to just anybody.
Recap
Sign up. You're on the hook for $10 as soon as it kicks off. On the first of the month, you'll be on the hook for another $5. We'll keep adding to it until a no no is tossed. Once it happens, payment instructions will be given, and the pool will reset. Once it resets, you're back on for another $10 plus $5 on the first of each month. If 2 no hitters happen to get thrown on the same day, the one that finishes first will be the one that pays. We'll redraw teams and reset the following day. I don't want to have 2 no hitters thrown within hours of each other, and have to retroactively draw names to see who the winner was.
If you want in but are worried about it costing to much over the course of the year, find someone else with the same concern and split an entry. If you sign up but don't want to finish out the season, I'll try to find someone to replace you, but it's ultimately your responsibility to make sure your entry is paid for.
I'm sure I've overlooked several "what ifs" and possibly some other obvious things. Post your questions/concerns/ideas below and we'll work through them before kicking this thing off. I'd like to have it full no later than Sunday evening so we can start on Monday, May 15.

This is where we are currently. If anyone else wants to sign up, all of us with multiple entries are willing to give up spots to let more people in. I'll watch it throughout the day and plan on randomizing tonight or tomorrow morning and we'll be live for Opening Day. We may not be set by the time of first pitch tomorrow(10:10 AM my time), but it'll be done early enough that the first game will count.

A lot of people haven't sent yet, and that's fine since we haven't known exactly how many entries some people would be taking. Everyone on the list is a known reg so I'm not going to hold up the start of this while waiting to collect a few more payments. I do still want to collect from everyone asap, but it's not going to delay us getting going.
I miss the days of being able to get 30 separate posters to sign up for something like this.
Sent, I think. Man I've sent you way more than I've received. Stupid squares.
I've been to one no-hitter in my life. I was 7 and my mom said after church, "Want to go to the Cardinals game?" of course I said yes and we went. They sucked at the time so we were able to get box seats by third base and we witnessed Bob Forsch pitch a no-hitter. My mom was ridiculously excited and I didn't comprehend what I witnessed.
i'm one of those slow paying bastards, am definitely down for mas if more people show up with interest, and I'll take another entry or two as well if we go 30x
otherwise will send once it's confirmed it's just the 1x
Shipped 100. Let me know if that is enough/too much.
Gl all!
Lock it up! We have our 15 runners for round 1 so let's get it rolling. I've already randomized the list of names and sent it to Tom Ames, who I'm sure will be happy to verify it if asked. What I need now is for someone to go here - https://www.random.org/lists/ - and randomize this list....

Atlanta Braves
Baltimore Orioles
Boston Red Sox
Chicago Cubs
Chicago White Sox
Cincinnati Reds
Cleveland Guardians
Colorado Rockies

New York Mets
New York Yankees
Oakland Athletics

Then post that randomized list in the thread. Once that's done, I'll match it up with the names list and we'll see who has what

For this round payouts will be $250 for the person whose team throws the no-hitter and $125 to whoever gets no-hit.
If anyone stumbles across this and wants to get it, sign up and I'll get you on the list for the next round. SRM & Schlitz are only in for round 1 at this point I believe so we already have two spots available for the next round. Actually I guess we have 17 spots. But get signed up and let's fill this thing up!
If there are any questions about what does and doesn't count, ask them now and let's get it all cleared up before a situation comes up we haven't addressed.
White Sox and Reds. Hmmmm.
Maybe good value in getting no-hit!
Sweet when Tigers no-hit Yanks
Astros \ Jays thru 8
Wait did I just win whatever this is?
You might have. Happy wedding. But now you and Schlitz are committed to a 2nd round
that was fast
