they should trade pasta for jimtim miller, that'd fix it

I'm sure a package of Zadorov and Lindholm would work, I hear the Canucks were pretty good with those two

I could see the Bruins picking up Brandon Saad and waiving him again before the deadline

I sure would like to know why these two guys hate each other so much ?

Fleury in Montreal great to see such a likeable person

Lol flyers.

Kuzmenko and Pelts will do fine in Philly. But why trade for guys that have been healthy scratched and another on waivers for 2 former 1st round picks who have been regular NHLers in their mid 20's. Conroy is a great GM.

I think Petey is soft and JT calls him out. Petey doesn't like it so he cries. Basically JT is a bully. And it's boiled over. That's the general take.

But on top of that I think there's another issue, possibly separate from it, or maybe how Petey fights back. Earlier in the year JT took time off for personal reasons. His wife deleted insta. Wasn't clear what issue was, but possible marital issues.

So maybe when JT is a bully, Petey fights back with stuff about his marriage.

It's an interesting deal, I like it better for Calgary for now but seems Philly is kinda hedging against Farabee's 5 million being major sunk cost for another three years. If he can be an OK middle six ish guy he won't be which makes it a reasonable shot from Calgary's POV and it's not just for this season, but they're in an awkward spot and figure to hand MTL their own ~13th overall pick rather than Florida's ~25th

Saad going to Vegas!

Here we go guys! Salary cap numbers released.

2025-26
Upper Limit: $95.5 Million
Lower Limit: $70.6 Million

2026-27
Upper Limit: $104 Million
Lower Limit: $76.9 Million

2027-28
Upper Limit: $113.5 Million
Lower Limit: $83.9 Million

The NHL and NHLPA note that the numbers in 2027 and 2028 are projections and can be revised.

The NHL's current collective bargaining agreement is set to expire at the end of the 2025-26 season, but the fact that the NHL and NHLPA have agreed on numbers beyond that is a great sign for labor negotiations.

beyond livid that the washington capitals bought cap friendly and made it private

also, lololololol that would be some good proprietary data - makes me really wonder just how terrible the analytics teams of front offices must be if a team decided to buy cap friendly just so other teams couldn't look at it

5 million for a 25 year old that's been a top 6 forward isn't sunk cost. It's not 2018, the cap is going up and the Flames have a ton of space. Conroy has also said he isn't looking to stock pile draft picks, they have their prospects and tons of cap room to add in FA if they want.

really like that for NYR - their window is closing rapidly, this was the year i thought they'd do it :(

seems like the wheels are already coming off kreider and zibanejad and meanwhile the young guys are developing into decent nhl players rather than the stars they hoped they'd become

panarin still good but at 33 he probably has 1-2 years left tops of being a top producer

I can see both fanbases being unhappy which is the ideal outcome

5v5 xg last 3 seasons:
adam fox 54%
quinn hughes 53%
elias pettersson 53%
artemi panarin 53%
filip chytil 52%
[gap]
jt miller 49%
tyler myers 48%
brock boeser 47%

was gonna say canucks win the trade simply because they won't be paying jimtim $8m until 2030, but chytil might straight up be a better player rn lol

also sort of just realized that the canucks should trade boeser, but i think they know that. they don't seem like massive fans of his

boeser was an analytics darling a few years ago - i thought he'd become a massive star

Not even gonna make playoffs this year. Window closed.

yeah i know it looks grim, but only 5 points out

this trade makes zero sense unless they thought they could make it

True, except our teams.:p

Who moved the trade deadline up five weeks?

Sharks getting a first for Granlund and Ceci seems pretty good. Although the Draft class seems to stink

by royalblue k

Although the Draft class seems to stink

people seem to say this every year, and i really doubt that basically anyone can say this with much certainty until some time after a draft. probably more accurate to just say that draft picks generally aren't that valuable. consensus seems to be that drafts fall off after ~15 picks, and as such pick 20 and pick 60 are pretty similar, for example

but at the same time, they are valuable, and you shouldn't fritter them away frivolously, as teams like the canucks love to do. these teams think they're so ****ing smart every time they trade a pick for a middling pro making middling pro money (~$2-3m/year), then they also wonder why they have no good, cheap depth or cap space. and obviously binking a pick and having big producer on a cheap contract is a cheat code, and there's basically only 1 way to achieve this; by having draft picks

Hopefully they don’t cut away for Dictator Trudeau speaking at 8:30 EST

rag$ fans experiencing one of jimtim miller's few remaining prime moments; scoring 2 goals in a loss. it'll only get worse from here

i actually legit feel bad for them. was listening to a canucks pod breaking down the moves and the host was saying that when he was looking around for reaction from their side, basically no one liked the trade. a mix of ehhh idk, maybe? and people hating it, the latter being correct. wild move in a vacuum, and really quite bad for where the nyr are specially. similar move to when the canucks traded a 1st+ to get him in the first place, except now he's several years older

in other news the canucks are apparently still pissed with pettersson. sounds like he has a no-move clause kicking in this summer and they might panic trade him before then. at this point i kinda hope they do, these morons don't deserve him. no surprise that smart teams like the canes have been after him forever. think it's probably close to 100% that they offered necas for petey, would lmao if they flipped rantanen for him

YAY!

Well I've seen enough. The Oilers stink.
