The NHL Thread
For the 5 of us who post NHL stuff, here you go. Officially the season starts Tuesday October 11, although there were tw
Uh-oh
We would love a Domi in Winnipeg.
they're going home !
Glad to see at least something is right in this world

Panthers Oilers rematch
8 straight game 7 losses yikes that was ugly to boot
Go Oilers
Iām on Panthers -120 in their series against Carolina.
Oilers (-115) and Panthers (-129) are both favorites to win their series.
Dallas (-123) and Carolina (-124) both have home ice and are favorites at home.
Slight home ice advantage for the home teams is offset by major home ice advantage for the lower seeded teams.
Interesting.
Love the Panthers in game 1 as a dog. Carolina has just been sitting around while Panthers are in rhythm playing playoff hockey, love them in the 1P even more.
It's time to see what the Canes are made of. No one cares about first and second round playoff success. Florida is the defending champ. Florida swept us in the ECF 2 seasons ago, all games decided by 1 goal. Game 1 was a 4 OT thriller. Game 2 also went to a single OT. Game 3 a 1-0 win. Game 4 won with 5 seconds remaining on the clock. A lot of guys have come and gone, but we still have a good chunk of the core.
We really need to win game 1. We need to capitalize on arguably being the best home team in the league. We need Freddie to keep up his success. We need to at least breakeven on special teams.
While Florida may be in more rhythm than us, I'm hoping their travel will give us a leg up. We have been sitting around, but I think 4 days off is right on the edge of the range where you can start falling out of rhythm heading into the next series.
I guess we'll find out.
At this point, I think they might rather miss the playoffs than continue going through these playoff defeats haha. Sorry Phil.
Might be the case if they need to start a rebuild.
Marner is gone, unless somehow they trade Auston.
Maybe Tavares resigns.
Knies could get offer sheeted, but will be costly either way. They'll keep him.
Word
This is now nine straight playoffs appearances since the Shanaplan started to bear fruit, with a total of two series wins—and an 0-7 record in winner-take-all games.
With all due respect to the Washington Wizards, Miami Marlins, and New York Jets, nobody does fatalism like the Leafs, because nobody fails the big moments like the Leafs.
[...] Game 7 was so much worse than Game 5, even though it had the same final score. The Leafs who had been branded as different from their spine-deficient predecessors stayed alarmingly true to their decades of springtime disasters by rolling over yet again. The five-goal margin was, amazingly, a record for this kind of thing
believe sportsnet also had a stat last night that the panthers had more shot attempts in the first 40 minutes than anyone did in any game this season. like more than anyone did vs the ****hawks, or the sharks, or whoever, anyone. incredible
bieksa's immediate reaction after the game was for them to run it back and try again next year, but come on. i don't think he even believes that. literally the definition of insanity to do so
(not to mention ~impossible due to the salary cap, and who are free agents, etc)

This is the troll thing to say. Leafs haven't learned after a decade+ of post season failures. Their fans have wanted to run it back every year for the past 5.
Saying run it back is a dig at them, because after 7 attempts, they are starting to realize that perhaps running it back is not the optimal course.
Bennett will elbow Freddy in the head before the first commercial break
