The NHL Thread
For the 5 of us who post NHL stuff, here you go. Officially the season starts Tuesday October 11, although there were tw
Iβm seeing a goal [emoji20]
YAY!
Iβm not watching, how do the Leafs look? Roster seems pretty bad without Nylanderβ¦wish I had known he was out, would have never bet them at the awful number I got [emoji2357]
WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE TAVARES!!!!
We did it for Malucci
Disclaimer: No NBA rigged going on ITT.π
Not fair for MTL to be able to use a demigod in a human league.
Seemed like there was more red in the building. Granted every Habs fan was probably geared up, whereas lots of Canucks ppl wearing their regular street clothes. Finger in the air guess maybe 35% Habs. Some sections were entirely red. Could be more.
Ole chant started with 8 mins left. Always feels too early to me, but it was loud in there.

You get that when the Leafs are in any CDN city as well
Only 10 games in but the CDN NHL Power Ramkings by me
- 1. Montreal
- 2. Winnipeg
- 3. Vancouver
- 4. Toronto Edmonton
- 5. Ottawa
- 6. Calgary
I think 20 games is a better indicator
Leafs game at 6. They also have the exact same record as last year.
DOMI!
Wtf is this stupid frozen frenzy feed on NHL network? All the games allegedly going on and they've got Buccigross and Weekes reading tweets in the studio
sigh Leafs
Are deflections reliable?
If you take 1000 shots that are deflected in front of the net, can you expect a certain number of goals?
Well it is a win! lol
Why is the NHL having such a staggered schedule and doing something right for onceβ¦on a Tuesday in October?

Joe Pavelski of the Stars was one of the best at it. He would stay after regular practice and do tip drills. The way it was explained to me was that the goal tender is likely to be in the middle of the net or shaded to the puck side and the deflector is trying to change the trajectory just enough to still hit the net and the goalie has no chance to react.
I looked but I don't think they keep stats on that yet, although it wouldn't surprise me if some advanced analytics nerd tracks it.
Caufield with his 3rd OTG of the year and now sole record holder for Habs ot goals. We almost blew that game
Habs 4 OTs and 4 wins in OT. They've got so many guys that are unstoppable 3-on-3 that it's not getting to the SO. Caufield especially comes up with absolute highlight reel goals in OT that you don't really see him score 5-on-5.
Habs know they'll get scoring from the top line, but it's important to get other lines rolling and the Dach-Veleno line was cooking w/those 2 guys at 98.3% expected goals for % 5-on-5 w/Dach getting robbed of a goal on a sick move.
Main thing that is concerning with the Habs is that their 5-on-5 #s are not really backing up their record, so this is probably not sustainable unless they play better.
Corsi For % and Fenwick For % are 24th, and High Danger Chances For % is 30th.
