If McDavid leaves it's not to a CDN team .
Reality is in a few years McDavid and Mathews will be playing in the USA
Vegas,Utah,Florida or Dallas

Although it would be nice, Montreal doesn't need him. Great young core set up for a long cup window. Don't change a thing.

I agree with you, but I think it becomes interesting if McDavid is willing to go the Tom Brady route and sign a team friendly extension. Like if you can lock him down long-term for $12.5M AAV, then maybe that's just too much value to pass up.

But Hughes knows what he's doing and I'm fine not making any rash moves. Maybe you find a 2C for Demi or RHD, but other than that, let this core continue to grow and they might already be legit contenders by next year (probably too soon this year).

Mathews is going for sure, but all superstars eventually leave the Toronto circus. Mcdavid to Calgary could be an option, tons of young talent, solid in goaltending, new arena and tons of cap space.

But MTL prob has to give up like every good prospect: Hage, Reinbacher, Pickford, Zharovsky, plus prob a bunch of 1sts and EDM still might say no to that b/c it wouldn't include a proven NHL player. I doubt MTL even thinks about offloading a Demidov or Hutson though so maybe it's a no go.

I said to a buddy it would cost Hage, Zharovsky, Reinbacher and one of Dobes/Fowler.

Yah, I think giving up any current NHLer (I'm counting Fowler but not Reinbacher) would probably be a nonstarter for the Habs. If prospects + picks can get it done and McDavid doesn't want a huge #, then you at least consider it.

The real question is if the Habs would do it with no extension. Give some future away for 2 years with McJ

Goooooo Buffalo!

Came home, wanted to tune into the Bruins game. Reconsidered.

Sabres are buzzin

buffalo 5 shots 19 boston
buffalo 4 goals 0 boston

lol, wut

Sounds to me you’re describing the most efficient game in hockey history

throw the damn towel gif

In no order, Buffalo, Edmonton, Montreal and cause of cowboycold Dallas am cheering for.

Carolina too

damn near close huh

curious where that 180 pdo period would rank all time

edit: xg was 2.4-0.7 buff
what'd they have like 5 breakaways? lol

Sabres put on a clinic in the 1st period. Outshot Boston 19-5. Looked like the damn Globetrotters.

Stress free win, other than wondering how Boston would thug it up in the 3rd.

oops, i got that backwards and shots were actually 19-5 buff

yeah, that makes more sense... (lol me)

xGF 1st period Sabres 2.84 Boston 0.49

yeesh

He's not leaving. The cost to acquire him would create too many holes in the acquiring team. It's the Carmelo to the Knicks quandary.

Dude has 2 years left then he's free to acquire. Don't think he runs it back in dumpster fire Edmonton unless they get serious about improving their team.

If it makes you feel any better I liked your reality better

How does Edmonton go about improving in the next 2 years? They've spent a lot of their assets the past few seasons, no goalie prospects,no cap space and the FA pool is terrible.

I agree they are in trouble

Brutal loss after being up 2 zip

Going back to Tampa too, Tampa just has that swagger where they know how to get it done in the playoffs against a young team.

That was a chippy, sticks flying game. Both sides. Gotta clean it up.

If we held them off in the 2nd and go to the 3rd up 2-0, I think we have the confidence to get it done. Allowing that late goal was back breaking. Going into 3rd only up 1 was a much different game.
