I think you could probably cut from 82 games to 70 and not even lose much revenue, would the national TV deal even change much? Probably not at all.
Problem is once you cut games and not much changes on the injury front, then what do you do? You already cut and can't go back.
It is tough because you don't wanna start the playoffs in March and you don't want the finals in July, not much room to maneuver.
I bet these injuries are an anolomy and not a trend. Meaning in future years we will see less discussion on it.

If we can’t shorten reg szn (of course it won’t be shortened), then:
Get rid of the all star game completely.
Make every playoff round best-of-9, BUT: your reg season games count toward the playoff series. Ex: NYK / IND series would start 2-1 Knicks. NYK need to win 3 games or IND need to win 4 games to advance.

Cutting games from 82 to 70 doesn't seem like it would cut it more than 2-3%. If it was actually thought that it would reduce injuries, they might look at it. But I'm sure they feel it won't do much.

Amazon, NBC, ESPN only air a small fraction of the games and that is where a lot of their TV revenue comes from
i dunno why it would go down so much if there were a few less games that weren't on those platforms
but why would a league even lose any money for no reason?
Gotta root for Minny. Edwards might be getting his a little early but he's the real deal and I've always felt Randle was underrated. Even so with the Lakers.
OKC should be a force for at least the next 3-5 years so they'll win eventually. This is actually one of the easiest paths one could get imo as while Denver has Jokic they are very flawed and Minny is simply a very tough 6 seed.

Local TV is 13%, tickets are 26%, concessions and parking are 8% of revenue. Pretty sure ownership is gonna care when you cut the number of home games from 41 to 35. https://x.com/Brooks_Gate/status/1813238...
