NBA 2025-26 Season Thread: THE NY KNICKS ARE CHAMPIONS! BING BONG!
Lettuce NBA!
and lettuce lol @ James Harden
Knicks FO acting like they are a relevant NBA market to be acting like this.
This just has to be a kink for Dolan. The reports all say "...FIRMLY denied" and I'm like 90% sure the Knicks FO is into this.
What was their plan here? Just assuming people would want to coach this team because New York?

Even if the coaches wanted to move, why the **** would their teams ever allow it when they’re under contract.
Lol NY Knicks
Are the teams not allowing their coaches to talk to NY or is the coaches saying F the Knicks?
The teams have to allow permission first, since they control the contract. The coach doesn’t even have to indicate whether they’re interested or not, if their controlling team won’t allow it.
To date, Dallas, Minnesota, Houston, and Atlanta have all refused Knicks chief ball guy Leon Rose and owner Jimmy Dolan permission to discuss their vacancy with, in order, Jason Kidd, Chris Finch, Ime Udoka, and Quin Snyder. Of those four, Atlanta's refusal was described as "emphatic."
[...] But what is interesting in this case is the steady barrage of news leaks to ESPN's backchannel wallpaper/avant-garde prose stylist Shams Charania (and some others) about the number of teams that have told the Knicks to piss off. Normally these things are either done on the down low or through some understated sixth-paragraph-level news dump, but with the Knicks as the butt of the joke, the glee of release is palpable.
[...] And while there are always assistants and freshly fired coaches ready to be wooed, the more entertaining part of the Knicks’ search this go-round is not who accepts the gig but how many more owners tell Jimmy The Pick to take a hike, and how quickly those rejections become public. The list of potential pending rejections is technically 25, although some teams and coaches are so locked in that even Dolan wouldn't bother to call. That reduces the number of realistic drop-deads to about 10. We can look forward to all of them, because the real trick is in discovering the number of owners who not only want to refuse Dolan but to make that rejection as adamantly public as possible.
lol, uh2ci
Imagine being emphatically denied the honour to speak with Coach Caine.
I'm guessing Dolan hasn't inquired about the services of Charles Lee.
Breaking News: New York Knicks requested, and were emphatically denied, permission by the New York Knicks to speak with ex-coach Tom Thibideau
when the Knicks fired Thibs I naturally assumed they already had a Giannis-approved coach lined up
the fact that they have done no homework and have no plan going forward is absolutely hilarious
Well, that would be the case if every series had a game 7.
We know every series will have a game 3 guaranteed.
And then Magic knows it’s really tough to sweep but if you win game 3, then you’ll very likely be up 3-1 heading into game 5. And closing out is really important.
Scott Foster will be walking through that door tonight.

Quick search says a team leading 3-1 wins about 95% of the time while a team leading 3-2 wins about 80% of the time.
So what you’re saying is that Magic is spot on
Both Siakam and Hal are traded for players. Either could win MVP.
Which doesn't seem to happen as often as franchise drafted ones.
Let me see....looks like 70/30 around there.

Pascal you can sort of understand. The timing of his extension and Toronto's rebuild timeline made the situation difficult.
Sacramento trading Haliburton will forever and always be basketball terrorism. If the Luka trade doesn't happen, it should be mentioned much more often as an all-time WTF Trade
