2025 MLB Season Thread
The Tokyo series is March 18-19th, will air on FOX, and is between The Cubs and The Dodgers.
The Regular Season starts Ma
Aroldis Chapman having the best year of his career is not something anyone predicted.
His walk rate went way down. Probably a pitching coach fixed something.
okay maybe it is the Protein.
Look at the Blue Jays go.
Real proud of Vlad Jr and..the rest.
Any chance they make the series this year? Is that Division still hell?
Jays have so much depth this year.
In the fourth inning, Phillies outfielder Harrison Bader planted a home run into the left field seats and a mild looking skirmish for the ball ensued, mostly among fans wearing Phillies garb. A man in a Phillies shirt emerged with the souvenir and brought it back to his family about 10 seats down the row. He handed the ball to his young son.
What followed next was hard to believe. A white-haired woman in a Phillies hoodie stormed down the row to the family and grabbed the stunned dad by his shoulder and pointed to the ball and the spot of the scuffle, apparently demanding the ball belonged to her.
The father appeared to state his case briefly but then relented and took the ball from his son and handed it to the irate woman. She stormed back to her seat in the row behind, apparently triumphant.
...When asked about what happened to the woman fan, the witness said, 'Lmaoo we boo’d her till her and her completely embarrassed significant other left.'
That was entertaining. The dad handled things well, glad his family was rewarded.
Anybody ever look at the bizarre career of Randy Bass? Dude just mashed year after year after year in the PCL and then in a couple of teams AAA levels. A .965 OPS in 1145 games. He barely got any chance at all at the major league level. 130 games spread over 6 seasons. Then he went to Japan and mashed a 1.078 OPS in 614 games and won an MVP and nearly broke the single season homer record. One year 1985 his team won the division and fans celebrated and sent a statue of Colonel Sanders (because he was also a bearded white guy) into the river. The team would then suffer the 'Colonel Sanders' curse. The statue was found in 2014 and the team, the Hanshin Tigers, finally were champions again in 2014. Bass later worked in the Oklahoma Senate and is now 71.
Wow, Yamamoto one out away from a no hitter. Gives up a homer and leaves the game up 3-1.
2 Dodgers relievers would follow, and neither would record a single out, and the Dodgers lost the game 4-3.
I don't know if a division leader has ever been such a disappointing team.
Giants closer gave up 3 runs without recording an out, and Verlander's 6 scoring innings and bid for a win would disappear. Verlander is 3-10 but his ERA is down to 4.09 and he's been good lately. Scherzer has a higher ERA but he's on the Jays so he gets to be 5-2
Scherzer and Kershaw are tied at 221 wins and they've pretty much been tied since 218.
Eat **** Doyers. Viva la Brew Crew.

no wonder he throws 121 pitches in 5 innings to get a win when he gets rare run support and the giants are up big.
I put the Yomamoto game on in the 7th inning. What an outrageous way to lose a game.
Didn't seem to make any headlines but Aroldis had a 4 strikeout inning on Sunday.
Hasn't allowed a hit in 14.2 innings.

I was reading early on about "Will the 2025 Dodgers be the GOAT team?" ... and was thinking that was not only stupid but probably the kiss of death. And I don't think they have it in them to right the ship for the post-season. Just more disappointment.

At first I mistook the name for Kevin Bass. I remember the Randy Bass homer explosion story in Japan league, but didnt' realize he was also threatening .400 (never done there, smaller parks a factor?), and winning Triple Crowns. Maybe he became such an instant legend over there he didn't want to come back? There is a mention on wiki that he sued both leagues and teams over medical expenses for a son with cancer, and perhaps was blackballed over this?
Do Canada people really talk like the Blue Jays announcer on Sportsnet? I want to rip my earballs out.
