Refs are overwhelmingly from north England iirc. Expecting there to be zero bias is naive.
Also Pope touches the ball and after takes out Gyokeres. These are the last ditch efforts that make defending so satisfying. A centimeter away and its a clear pen.

Seems fair enough really, not that Arsenal have been dominant but they've been a bit more enterprising overall
Apart from the fact that Gabriel should have probably been sent off or at least shown a yellow. It was a decent game from the ref imo.

It's a moot point now, but do I expect a ref from north England (and a supporter of one of the big teams) to sometimes make a decision against a title rival like Arsenal?
Yeah absolutely. Obv not saying it happens all the time but it's a non-zero amount.

13 points from 18 it’s the fixtures we’ve had is honestly very good. And with injuries piling up too. Thank god we have such a deep squad. Having players like Merino and Martinelli (and obviously O) just coming off the bench is huge.
He's a self-admitted Liverpool fan, so he's barred from reffing Liverpool games. Quite how that's any different to him reffing Liverpool's title rival's games hasn't been explained.
