NCAA Football 2025
Not sure who will win this year, hopefully Arch goes nuts and UT can kick the door in after making the quarterfinals the
the domers backing out of a bowl game seems very short sighted. forget potential portal moves, any team could use an extra month of sanctioned practices for their younger players.
The people in charge are just too dumb to write good enough rules. Smart people can look at rules and envision all sorts of things that could happen, and then think of solutions, dumb people cannot imagine that something can happen until they actually see it with their own two eyes. The ACC tiebreaker is stupid, but I don't want to pick on the ACC since lots of other conferences
Well good news there, since starting next year, the P4 champs are all guaranteed a bid, as is ND if they're ranked in the top 12. I'm sure this won't have any additional adverse effects on scheduling...
I think much anger on this comes because the outcome looked planned. And it looked planned the week prior, when there was a good case that ND and Bama should have flipped spots. There was talk then, but (as people noted) it only gets validated if Bama has an awful game against Georgia, and still does not get dropped.
This isn't people looking back and saying... "it looks the committee aligned to protect Bama". People saw the foundation for this last week, and called it before it happened.
A house down the street from me had their Bama flag outside today. I can't remember the last time I saw it. LOL

The committee should've just said that ND has no chance to make the playoffs weeks ago and tell them to play a real schedule and win their actual real games.
Or go one step further. Tell ND they are ineligible for the playoffs until they join a conference.
It's also ridiculous to punish Bama because they played an extra game.
The committee ****ed it up by not ranking ND outside the top 10 every single week like they should have.

If ND pockets all the money and gets away with it why shouldn't OSU and Georgia do the same?

How did anyone see through their clever scheme?
- Head to head somehow only matters if the teams are next to each other.
- Anyone in between the H-H can be moved for any reason.
Lot's of complaining about Miami and the ACC. It was actually Bama who got the sweetheart treatment from the PC and jumped ahead for playing poorly.

If you can get rewarded for winning a conference (IE - getting a playoff bye as a top conference champ), why canβt you be punished for losing it? Makes no sense. If you can reap the rewards of winning a conference you should be able to be punished for losing it.
Uga was rewarded for winning. Were they not? They are getting a first round bye because of it.
yeah I agree. It's an extra game, sure but it's also an extra data point. It shouldn't mean NOTHING.

I realized I misspoke. You are no longer guaranteed a bye for winning your conference. You are guaranteed a playoff spot if you are one of the top 5 conference champs. Point still stands though. Uga was rewarded for winning and they get a bye for being a top 4 team. Had bama won they might have gotten a bye as well

No they were not. UGA was in top 4 before the game and if the game were not played would have remained top 4. Heck OSU lost their game and still remained ranked higher. The sense is quite simple. If playing in a conference championship game can eliminate you from the CFP whereas not playing hands you a spot why should any team in Alabama's spot play? Why should teams that fail to qualify(Miami) or refuse to be in a conference(ND) get rewarded for not playing? So far no team has lost their seat at the table for losing a conference championship albeit their seed has gone down and if you want to see conference championships played that needs to be true.
yeah I agree. It's an extra game, sure but it's also an extra data point. It shouldn't mean NOTHING.
It shouldn't but the issue is that you create a no-win situation. Neither IU nor OSU had any real benefits besides a trophy to playing in the B1GCG. Both were locked into the playoffs and both were locked into byes. In a world where a loss might've dropped either team out of the top 4, why play?
The best answer is probably to give the P4 conf champs a bye and then seed re-seed the 2nd round just like the NFL does, but that doesn't do anything to prevent the "#5 problem" where the 5th seed would get a stupidly easy path (This year Vs. JMU then vs. Duke lololol).

Because the schedules in CFB are massively inequitable. Not only are you reading the NDs of the world, but literally every team that misses out on a conference championship game that would otherwise be eliminated.
Like Ole Miss should get in the playoffs because they didn't make the game but Bama should because they did and lost? That's absurd. It would be a terrible precedent that basically would eliminate all conference games or make them a free for all where conferences are hosting a "championship" game that consist of bubble teams in hopes of propping them up.
I have absolutely no problem with them now being games where teams can move up to get byes or better seeding based on their performances.
They generate a lot of money and conferences obviously don't want to get rid of them. Make them basically mini bowl games that are to celebrate each conference.
Like how absurd would it be in the NFL if a few teams had an 18th game and there was an 11-6 team that had the tiebreaker over another 11-6 to get into the playoffs, but then this game meant that if they lost they would now be 11-7 and out of the playoffs? It's absurd.

sorry ILP
I mean anyone can see ND is better than Bama right now. And has been for several weeks. It's funny the committee says this dumb stuff but yet dropped Georgia from 1 to 5 a few years back for losing by a field goal to Bama.
there's no perfect system. fans will always be able to gripe about this, that and the other. none of that is interesting to me
the conference championship games are a data point that must be taken into consideration. if a team loses a CCG and as a result doesn't make the CFP they only have themselves to blame. they should have won more game(s) along the line and not put themselves in that position to begin with
