ND ranked 14th tomorrow?

by esad m

ND will still somehow be ranked in the top 15 next week.

Yes, the Irish are positioning themselves well for the playoffs. Some close losses, a few wins, Jesus, the Pope, etc. Looking good. And building character.

I believe they moved up after losing last week, so they'll probably be top 5.

Goddammit, looks like DeShaun Foster was technically fired a few minutes before Brent Pry. And on west coast time, ffs. Mother****er!

I mean I knew VT had an excellent chance of starting 0-3 (Monarchs highly under rated imo) before their FCS game, plus had lost some great players while coming up with jack in the portal but UCLA admittedly never had a glimpse of non-suck play, whereas VT was slightly competitive at times. VT should fire the AD for failing to fire Pry at halftime after being outscored 0-62 in their last 4 quarters.

It is now. And yet somehow they are probably still live to make the playoffs.

They need to shift the sponsors around so the first round of playoffs is branded as the English Muffin Bowl at ___ campus.

anyone see GoldenBears recently?

Cal has a more than live chance to go undefeated and appear in the acc championship game.

their remaining schedule does not include miami, gt, clempson, or fsu
i'm seeing +3500 opportunities for a conference title and was wondering how many leagues ahead of that line he got his chum in the water

Good timing with the bat signal!

I have been afk from this thread lately, work has just been too insane to shitpost on top of watching all the games. But just wanted to pop in to hype up JKS.

I assume nobody has been watching Cal (why would you?) but our true freshman quarterback Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele might actually already be the best quarterback in the country. It's very reminiscent of Matt Ryan at BC - absolutely no weapons around him, 95% of his passes are to slow WRs who aren't remotely open, but he just fires absolute lasers into the smallest conceivable holes over and over and over.

The stats don't tell the full story. He might go 17/25 for 200 yards or whatever, but 13 of those 17 completions are like absolute miracles, and probably 3 of the 8 incompletions were drops.

Every year I promise myself I won't get excited about Cal football, and then every year something ropes me back in just to crush my dreams again, so I assume that's what is happening for the 21st time in a row, but god damn it's been fun so far.

That, combined with probably the weakest P4 schedule in history has Cal fans on cloud 9 right now. Somehow we dodge Miami, Clemson, FSU and Georgia Tech.

I have a good amount on Cal to make the ACCCG at 35-1 and to win the ACC at 100-1. But, just having a sweat is fun. The defense is actually not bad either. If we had a couple of weapons on offense, we'd probably be a legitimate top-15 team, but alas it's just JKS putting on a one-man show.

Watch his first six passes here and you'll understand:

That's every pass (not just highlights) from the 1H against Oregon State

Absolute miracles made me lol. I’ll be watching Cal in a few weeks when the Heels head out there. Excited to see JKS play after that post

Notre Dame is -185 at bet365 to not make playoffs which seems very good to me. Best of the sites I've seen. Probably worse than that just to win at USC and at Arkansas and if they lose either they are dead.

Hmmm home versus USC but similar idea

yes, JKS appears to be the truth.

Thanks for fixing that link RED.

1st off , that kid needs a nick name. Harder pronunciation than Tua's last name.

2nd he seems to have a bit of a side arm delivery. The coaches seem to know that as well, so he rolls out or throws a quick out. His batted ball was trying to throw over the D-line up the middle. Trying to change that might mess with his accuracy, so for college, I wouldn't mess with it.

I am already in love.

Lefties look so much sexier throwing the ball.

fair assessment. he's 6'3 and has been able to get away with that sort of thing in high school but guessing that will change pretty quick

Miami only -7 seems off.

Miami only -7 seems off.

Well it started at -9.5 and went down, probably on the thought that "You try losing by only ten when you get picked off 5 times in Death Valley..."

great line. I have ND 23% to win out, and I have them a couple points better against Purdue than Vegas does, and same line against Arkansas.

I think they are the easiest team to call - they are a lock at 10-2, and I think they are dead at 9-3.

If they lose to Ark or USC, that deprives them of a quality win

Losing to Navy or Stanford or Syracuse is obviously a non starter. Losing to Boise at home is probably also a non starter.

losing @ BC or @ Pitt is too late in the season to recover from, and would be a hugely damaging loss anyway

So, the best case 9-3 is probably losing at home to NC State:

they beat Purdue, they beat Arkansas on the road, they beat Boise at home to improve to 3-2.

Then they lose to NC State at home, which drops them out of the ranking at 3-3

then they win six consecutive to end the season:

vs USC
@ BC
v Navy

They're probably ranked like 24th at this point

@ Pitt, vs Cuse, @Stanford, just not even gonna be close to ranked high enough to make it.

My god that's a great bet. I get that ND is a favorite in the rest of their games, but they have to win them all (a 9-3 ND team is not getting in), and we all know from doing calculator NCAA tourny math the odds they run the table are gonna be dismally low.

Teams that I think have a great shot to make it at 9-3 (without advancing to the CCG - obviously if teams like Clemson lose to SC but finishes 7-1 in the ACC they could get in by winning the ACC)

Oklahoma

Let's say they lose their 3 toughest games, n Texas, @ Tennessee, @ Alabama

They'd have wins over:
v Michigan
v Auburn
@ South Carolina
v Ole Miss
v Missouri
v LSU

That's probably 4 ranked wins, and h2hs over teams that they are surely competing with for a spot.

Let's say they lose to Ole Miss or something but win @ Bama or @ Tenn - Even better, I think.

Losing to LSU would make life tougher, since that's the final game.

Florida

Upset Miami this weekend, lose to Texas, then rip off 7 consecutive wins against a murderer's row:

@ Texas A&M
Mississippi State
Georgia
@ Kentucky
@ Ole Miss
Tennessee
Florida State

That's gotta do it. They'd single-handedly decapitate the ACC and reduce them to probably 1 bid. They're in line behind Texas and LSU, but would have H2H against most of the other contenders (ATM, UGA, Ole Miss, Tennessee)

Few other SEC teams have an outside shot. Nobody in the B1G has their schedule line up quite right.

Theoretically Wisconsin has the schedule (but not the talent) do it:
Lose to Maryland then @ Michigan to drop to 2-3

Then 7 consecutive wins against:
Iowa
Ohio State
@ Oregon
Washington
@ Indiana
Illinois
@ Minnesota

That would give them 4 top-25 wins, possibly two top-10 wins. But, I have them at 0.002% to win those 7, so not very likely.

Beating Michigan and losing to Iowa is probably even better.

Jaron-Keanuwe Sagospiosdspousadghjuar9tiu4ipz%oute looks like Penix to me. Lefty with that 3/4 delivery and the footwork is a little weird.

Cal to national championship game confirmed.

Figured I’d watch a few minutes of late night JKS against “Minnesota” (yeah, I’d never heard of them either but apparently they’re Wisconsin’s version of the Void from the 1800s).

Loaded up on Cal at the half and don’t recall sweating it at all. That guy’s fun. I’d figured Cal was out of it after the late exodus—just feels pointless trying to predict the results of the portal.

I have them at 0.002% to win those 7, so not very likely.

You know, you think you’ve nailed the deadpan angle by saying “Bama probably doesn’t have to worry about facing Wisconsin again in the playoffs.” and someone comes along and makes you look like a total amateur!

Not sure what WILL happen but I definitely think a 9-3 Oklahoma team or Florida team SHOULD get in. And I think if Michigan goes 9-3 they should be out. Michigan's schedule isn't tough enough to deserve 9-3 in status. Gotta go 10-2 or it's over.

Wasn’t sure where to put this but it will provide some Friday night lulz. Makes the Gainesville cops in the Meyer era look like Clarice Starling.
