I do find it funny when people post these videos as if they mean something. Oh look, a professional NFL QB can throw a professional looking throw in practice to a professional NFL WR.

I mean every year there are teams with super low expectations that end up doing really well.

I can't see them doing well enough to make the playoffs or anything, but exceeding their win total and not getting blown out every game could be on the table depending on how they draft.

Then there's no way the Raiders practiced at all last year.

not that professional a WR - he caught it with his body not his hands

most boring Draft lead up of all time?

I don't watch much NCAA but that notwithstanding, there appears to be basically 0 particularly exciting/intriguing storylines.

the consensus seems to be 'few superstars, but a deep draft of good but not elite players', but where's the fun in that?

the most boring #1 pick QB ever with no intrigue, a couple of faceless DEs and some not particularly exciting OL and WR. Other than OMGhowearlycantheypickanRBorSafety???", what is there that's worth looking at?

can we at least get some kind of Tunsil scandal? Or maybe a fistfight in the Green Room?

Feels like all drafts are boring these days. I get excited it's coming, then happens, and it's like well that was boring.

How's this Mendoza guy? I actually haven't seen a ton of his play. I liked his heart fighting for those yards near the gaol line vs Miami. But does he have a high skill level ceiling like a Peyton Manning or Elway coming out? Or is alot of it hype because he took an underdog team that played together well to win a championship? How much was that him? And how much just a complete team with a very good caoch? He seems like he's gonna be at least solid. But does he have a great ceiling?

If i was a gm i'd always lean to trading the 1 pick for a haul of picks to build a great team in the future. Unless the 1 pick was a pretty sure superstar. And nobody really knows for sure who the superstars of the draft will turn out to be. Like Rodgers, Mahomes, Lamar, Josh Allen, Brady, Breeze weren't 1 picks. Only 1 picks off top of my head that had a 1 pick careers were Peyton Manning and Elway. Maybe some in the olden days.

The Jimmy Johnson trade a big name player for a haul of picks to build a team for the future, and more opportunities with more picks to find that HOF'er or possible GOAT hiding in the draft, usually seems right. But boring on draft night. Well not boring as i'd love my team to have lots of picks on draft night. Just that you didn't grab that shiny 1 pick saddens some as he coulda been "the one".

I definitely ascribe to the notion of trading the #1 pick for a haul. Might as well have more bites at the apple while you fulfill more positions.

Counterpoint....the Raiders 1st round picks of the past 7 years

Clelin Ferrell - 4 years 10 sacks, no second contract
Josh Jacobs - good pick, 5 years fracnhise tag but no second contract
Jonathan Abraham - 36 games 2 INTs 0 sacks, no second contract. out of League
Henry Ruggs - 20 games 921 yards, 4 TDs, 1 DUI Felony resulting in Death. out of League
Damon Arnette - 13 total games, 3 Passes Defended, cut mid way through yr 2. Out of League
Alex Leatherwood - cut after 1 season. out of League
Tyree Wilson - 7 starts in 3 years, 12 sacks in 50 games....at least he's provided some value? but no way he gets a 5YO
Brock Bowers - STUD
Ashton Jeanty - too early to tell but 3.7ypa in yr 1. Hopefully he just needs a better line

(I had never heard of Tyree Wilson #7 pick 3 years ago!)

perhaps taking the QB and him becoming League average is a way better idea than loadinng up on picks they'll **** up

Jimmie Johnson's retired now right? Brady should hire Jimmie to be his draft guy. And now Raiders got Cousins they don't need a qb.

The closest thing we have to a draft scandal is a tweet from mendoza from when he was in high school that seems like such a non-story that the story becomes how there isn't a scandal to be found with this draft class.

Think of how hard his first winning postgame glory to god interview is going to go when the Raiders move to 2-10 on the season.

Miami prosecutors determined that the star University of Miami player wasn't doing anything out of bounds at 4am. Just driving along minding his own business when bam, hits a car and careens off two guardrails.

To be clear, I'm not advocating to crucify the guy. It's possible he's just a bad driver who likes to party sober. I'm just saying if I had to bet, I'd lay some pretty heavy odds he was on something and/or driving like Rashee Rice. It's probably safe to say he wasn't fall-down drunk. But other than that who knows.

driving while fatigued is also a thing

didn't get he cited for reckless driving? wouldn't that qualify as out of bounds?

After totaling that Land Rover the girl died in, he crashed a Cybertruck the following year and was again cited for careless driving. Both were dismissed as "defective citations." Pretty lucky guy having the cops fill it out wrong twice.
