Dont the balls have tech in them to definitely tell if it took a touch or not

I also thought this, some type of snicko technology like they have in cricket

I'm assuming they must do otherwise it wasn't clear and obvious to overturn on field decision of goal

Don't think Portugal will beat Spain.

Correct

They showed the graph on the BBC there from the snicko, it did look like there was a touch from it.

I was only half watching but there was clear bump in the line.

Yeah, damn that is brutal for Croatia:(

multiple replays and I still can't tell if 20 touched the ball with his hair or not

https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments...

still have no idea. his hair looks to move, but is that because there's contact with the ball or because he's flicking his head?

also, apparently snicko isn't totally reliable, so yeah just great work all around here

Manzambi is legit.

swiss defender kicking it just outside his own goal but the goalie was on the other side and had to sprint to get it was funny to watch.

Yah complete insanity to ruin an epic WC moment over this. Are they still pretending that VAR is only to intervene for "clear and obvious" errors?

Checking in here - how’s Germany going? When’s their next match?

aksully tho:

2026–27 UEFA Nations League
24 September 2026
Netherlands v Germany (Amsterdam)

cant wait
-literally everyone

welp

rip algeria, i guess

needed to swap in iran at halftime, algeria just doesn't have the quality of players overall to beat a top 20 team.

Igor Matanovic: "Honestly, I think I felt a slight contact with my hair. I asked the referee, I wasn't 100 percent sure if I had touched the ball. He told me that they have a chip in the ball, that there was a slight contact and that, therefore, it was offside."

Some dudes would've lied their tail off about this so that's nice he didn't.

algeria playing this one with the intensity of that austria match they're were drawing on purpose...

Should be 3-0.

Missed an empty goal. That will be memed with that crazy Argentine dude voiceover.

anyway, round of 32 ends tomorrow:

australia vs egypt (in arlington)
argentina vs cape verde (in miami)
colombia vs ghana (in kansas city)

i was really looking to penalty kick-off too

I just have one question : what is the value in sending the ref to check it on the screen himself when you have 5 grown men who are official referees as well in a room with all the technology?

Like for fouls etc.. if you believe that's up for interpretation ok but the ref should never have to make the decision for an offside - you're telling me 2 linesmen, 5 VAR people + technology are not enough to decide on something objective and they're like "mate we don't know, how about you come and figure it out for us" ?

Three games yesterday. Three UEFA wins. πŸ‘

The correct answer is obviously, "Because VAR == AIDS"

The question about the offside yesterday was also did the Croatia player intentionally play the ball / start a new phase of play, that is a judgement call and they dont want to take those out of the ref's hands.

(I think)

Hilarious Algeria crashout.

Watched the replay another 20 times. I still feel like Croatia got screwed.
