Early miscount of the year and/or comedy leg contender from Menzies. Has 138 in the decider, hits two T20's then misses double 9, de Decker needs a ton, shanks into 5, cleans up to leave 28. Menzies misses three clean at D9 much to Harrington's amusement leaving de Decker on D14 for the match, goes inside on the first then misses two outside at D7. Menzies returns on 18, decides going for double 9 is a bad idea, so then hits 6 to leave a better double. However, he thinks he was wanting 14, not de Decker, so then goes outside and then in on D4, thinks he's won the match, has 4 left. de Decker then proceeds to go inside-outside on D7, throws a dart away at 1, hits treble somehow so they're both on 4 for the match, and even Menzies couldn't mess it up that time
Huge increase in prize money across the board, also an expected increase in the worlds field size to 128. Sadly the prize structure points at it just being a straight KO like one of the tennis majors rather than a flat bracket so all the extra games will be the seeds against complete no hopers
Nate attributed his recent success to the Target K-Flex in the postmatch lol. He also went back to the 1st gen barrel which they're now selling with Swiss points. Much cheaper than the later gen barrels with more elaborate cuts and PVD coatings. That barrel is basically an adaptation of the Winmau Leighton Rees he was using early in his career but with microring grip added to the rear section. There was probably a transition dart or two in between but I can't tell for certain.

That Rees dart is long out of production, but one of the rarer darts in the current Winmau lineup is the Darren Herewini model, which looks strikingly similar to the Aspinall Gen 1 but with bronze PVD coating.

The new barrels aren't out yet but appear to be a variation of his rear scalloped stiletto Mission V2 (see Red Dragon Fusion, Winmau Clarion, Perfect Darts Space Raider. One of the more interesting setups on tour.

Nice write-up on modeling the doubles. I saw the final which was great but couldn't catch much of the tournament outside of a few random matches. What are your thoughts on JvD suiting up for US&A? I know he "earned" the right to play and I feel bad for him, but I'm not sure that's a great reason to ruin a team competition when you cannot even grip the dart.
I don't think either him or Lauby should have played, although at least Danny is not clearly a long way off his best (although he didn't play well either). Two of Spellman, Sevada or Gates would wipe the floor with Lauby
