What Lebron is doing now is simply adding to the argument not creating it in the first place.

Why people are comparing this to Jordan's peak just entirely beggars belief.

This.

He can only add. Can't take away.

He could not score again in this series and he'd still have been the best 41 year old player of all time.

I'd say you might be right. Kareem might have something to say. But how does that make you the greatest player of all time?

And how is it fair to Jordan that we can't criticize Lebron's play, but only add to his play when he does good?

Also as said before, advancements in health and fitness make players careers longer these days compared to Jordan's time.

It's still Jordan ainec. If Ray Allen never hits that shot, Draymond Green didn't have a fetish for kicking people in the balls, and the covid bubble never happened, this "debate" would never exist. But for those who actually saw Jordan play, there never was a debate to begin with. Nothing comes close to Jordan. Prime LeBron vs prime Bird is actually a legit debate to me. Now that one I sincerely don't know.

If Bird doesn't blow out his back doing driveway work. and Magic doesn't get HIV then Jordan probably wins less.

Ifs and buts, candy and nuts.

I never said he didn't lose a game, or miss a shot. I said he never lost a finals championship.

There's 9 seasons that Jordan played NBA basketball and didn't even get past the first round of the playoffs, or missed the playoffs entirely. So convenient that 65% of his career doesn't count.

So you want us to believe Lebron was a closer, and winner, and Jordan usually loses? Yeah, Jordan poor guy, if only he could win.

Btw, this just in, Lebron only lost tonight's game because nobody brought him his rocking to the oldies video with Richard Simmons.

Or Kuckoc doesn't go 7/11 in Game 7 against Indy (rest of the Bulls shot 34% including MJ who shot 36%).

Or Pax doesn't make the shot

Or Kerr doesn't make the shot

It's a dumb game.

.

No just want you to be honest about Jordan's career. It featured plenty of losses and failures that are conveniently brushed under the rug.

Yep, LeBron was horrible tonight.

Stop trying to compare 41 year old LeBron to GOATing LeBron.

If it was Jordan we could just say he was relaxing because they're up 3-0.

My bad. I didn't realize Jordan was being carried by Paxton and Kerr. Maybe they deserve goat nominations.

Seems more likely than Lebron being carried by Draymonds foot. That was your argument?

It's just not true. Yes he lost early in his career because he was drafted to a terrible team that didn't care about winning. And he played the great of boston, bad boys, and celtics back then. How he made the playoffs that one year where he put up 63 on boston is beyond me. He was the whole team. Bird called him an alien or something in that game. Bird knew who the goat was as soon as he started playing him.

I give credit where credit is due. Lebron knew he couldn't beat the warriors so he baited Draymond into a suspension. I never said Lebron wasn't smart. Just he doesn't play basketball as good as Jordan, or even close.

Then after lebron beating the warriors says, paraphrasing in case not exact..."after i beat the warriors was when i knew i was the goat" LOL! He actually said that. Love you Lebron, you can self-proclaim yourself king because nobody else cared to argue with you about the title.. But you can't self-proclaim yourself the goat and expect everyone to believe it lol.

What's not true about him playing 15 NBA seasons failing to reach the finals in 9 of those seasons? As well as not playing a few other seasons during that period as well. Failed to even make the playoffs in his final 2 seasons. There's nothing not true about that. Failed at baseball too. And coaching. And being a GM or owner. Good at selling shoes though.

Lebron's not made the finals plenty of times too no? 13 times playing with the best of the best in the soft east? And the times he gets there, when he was given a buy to the finals most times, is only 4 wins and 6 losses. Does 4 wins and 6 losses sound like a guy whose the greatest? Or a guy who has 6 wins and zero losses playing with somewhat average players compared to lebron playing with the league's best players?

I wonder if Jordan got the chance to play 10 finals if his record would be more than 4 wins, and less than 6 losses? One could only imagine?

Michael Jordan had a chance to make 10 Finals, but wasn't good enough.

LeBron looked like Wizards MJ last night, was rough.

Lakers looked exhausted all round, tbh.

by fidstar-poker m

You claimed your a superfan of Michael jordan. Then say you had to admit Lebron was better than Joran even though you hated Lebron, and loved Jordan. Now say Jordan wasn't good enough to make 10 finals like the goat Lebron? Is that really a serious argument?

So Jordan wasn't as skilled as Lebron so how could he ever make 10 finals like Lebron?

wat?

by fidstar-poker m

wat?

My question is your claim is Lebron is more talented than Jordan and that's why he made more finals? Do you really believe that to be a true statement, and a real argument?

Jordan didn't have that it clutch factor Lebron had right?

Jordan's lucky he had Kerr and Paxton to carry him. C'mon bro. You're in la la land. All due respect, but c'mon bro.

Fidstar’s ability to view this topic objectively and go on a journey as the years have progressed is to be commended, tbh. We could use more of it in the world, across a number of disciplines.

Anyway - his simple point is Jordan “6 - 0” conveniently omits the other 9 seasons he lost before getting to the finals. In the context of a conversation strand where he started by pointing out how Jordan wasn’t under the same type of media scrutiny in the 90’s, and time has passed meaning his failures and losses are forgotten.

Makes sense to me.

people misremembering gordie howe’s career itt

It's before my time, but I think Howe did in fact have a GOAT ish status before Gretzky came along.
