pocket pairs in Stud8

pocket pairs in Stud8

what do you guys think about small-medium pocket pairs in stud8

for ex:

Qh Qd 4h

8c 8d 3s

or

9c 9s Ks

As for 99s,

I think the above 99s hand hand might be playable if I'm up against someone who is very passive and my suit is not showing so I could flush up but what about a hand like:

9c 9s Ah?

For these examples, lets say no one else has a door card matching yours.

Does everyone play them if they are not showing? Would 6s 6c Kc be too weak?

ps.

i think i added the QQ6 hand after a few edits after rethinking some interesting hands in stud8...hence why the thread title doesnt align with the contents of the OP

In a full 8 person game, pairs are not really worth a lot (except for AA). If you're in a position where the hand will be heads up after 3rd street they can be playable, or if you can get it for just the BI (no one completes) basically hoping to get trips on 4th street and folding if you don't. That's for pairs in the hole; split pairs are worth even less because it's not hidden when you make trips.

ty much appreciated!

The ones you mention are often playable, because the pair is buried and you have a low card or better high card showing.
