Wait until you get a severe case of Gout in your foot/feet... I don't wish that fire on my worst enemy.

Had it one time and it was horrific. My foot swelled up and looked like a football and I had to crawl out of bed and could put zero pressure on it. Managed to somehow hobble to a podiatrist by hopping on one foot and using golf clubs as canes/crutches. He wrapped it which really helped and gave some sort of medication and it went away and never came back and hope it never does. That was about 30 years ago and the pain was miserable.

Welcome back Cro. It's interesting that physical movies are being phased out while vinyl record sales are reaching new sales heights. I hope they bring back my Netflix mailers one day but am not holding my breath...

Thanks for the welcome back, y'all! I've missed 2+2 a ton. My foot injury came from moving a heavy table. I picked it up and the moment I picked it up it slipped out of my hand and the peg landed straight on my foot. By far the worst pain I've ever felt and honestly my foot felt incredibly flimsy and weak. Ambulance picked me up. Doctor looked at it, put a bandage over it and said "you should be ok in a week." I wasn't given clear instruction on how to care for it, so it got infected, I had to return to emergency (clinics are a shitshow here) where it still felt like I didn't get the care I needed. I eventually ended up in a wound care clinic and they had to use a freakin wound machine on my foot. It's essentially a vacuum that sucks out any bacteria, drainage, blood etc. I had that on my foot for a couple of weeks? It was AWFUL but it helped a bit with the healing process. My injury became a massive hole in my foot that was quite deep. It took more than 1.5 years to "heal." I still deal with a fair amount of discomfort and swelling, but I'm at least able to sit in a chair without agonizing pain in my foot. A lot of long days and weeks of just lying in bed. The first show I watched was Entourage because I had fond memories and didn't want to watch anything good/great and have that associated with the time I spent being injured. It was fun at times, maybe the first few seasons, then I remembered why the show fell off and I wondered how I ever enjoyed such a dumb show lol Ah well

Yikes, that sucks. Still no reason to disappear from the Lounge, tho. You must write three movie reviews as penance, stat.

The real benefit of teaching college: classes ended yesterday and don't begin until Jan. 21st.

The drawback: having little contact with people until then.

That's a feature, not a bug.

Breaking News: Shakespeare was a beast!

Othello

Daughter took me Christmas shopping. It's a snap because my daughter just tells me what to buy for the granddaughters. I had to buy her dinner and drinks before she would take me.

In other news, planning a golf trip to Ireland. My friend calls me and asked if I want to go to Prague for a few days before Ireland. Why not?

Man, I'm jealous. I'd be lucky to be able to afford a golf trip to Mesquite.

Ireland is on our bucket list!! Looks beautiful. Never been to Europe before, we'll go one day.

Went to Ireland last summer with two girl friends. We had a great time. The country is beautiful.

My brother calls me today and asks if I want to go to Australia with him at the end of March. And then for a couple days back to LA to visit cousins. My brothers seem to forget that I'm not retired.

'Tis the Season ... 'tis the season to go to too damn many Christmas gatherings/parties and eat and drink way too much! Had 2 this week, another tomorrow and then of course Christmas and it Eve. Gotta up my workouts!

Gonna take it easy tonight although I am currently sipping on one of my favorite egg nog concoctions. I discovered this last year, eggnog and Fireball. It's a really delicious combo. You can't drink very much eggnog though its just too heavy and sweet. This will be a one and done. Plan on watching exclusively Christmas movies until the big day. Just about to fire up It's a Wonderful Life.

Almost time to put an end to this Fall thread, but I'm going to hang in until tomorrow. I need time to think of a catchy title.

Mrbaseball reminds me that I love eggnog, so I might try it with Fireball (I should try to order it at a local bar).

john i tried eggnog with fireball earlier this week

the cinnamon of the fireball overpowers everything

best mixers are spiced rum or brandy imo with a bourbon or whiskey a very distant 3rd

always hard to decide when to internalize overpowering memories of recent friends

Depends on how heavy a pour. Too much Fireball is too much 😀 I find a weak one very tasty. Just enough to get a hint of the cinnamon.

Costco has this, with whiskey, spiced rum, and brandy

Some of the drier Ryes, which seem to be coming back on the market, do well in eggnog. I prefer really cheap brandy.

I think I'll go with Brandy in a nice looking glass.
