Joseph Heller still dead, still at 76 (and other celebrity deaths): RIP Hank Aaron and Willie Mays

When an interviewer told Mr. Heller that he had never written anything as good as ''Catch-22,'' the author shot back, ''Who has?''

yep, RIP Chi Chi

Broken YouTube Link

No one owns bow ties anymore, let alone wear them.

I followed Chi Chi for a bunch of rounds in the 60s. He was constantly yakking, constantly out driving everybody.

RIP Gena Rowlands. Legend. 92

RIP Greg Kihn, rock and roller. 75

RIP Peter Marshall, game show host, 98

RIP. Bridgette Lin's character in Chunking Express is thought to be a tribute to Gena.

RIP Peter Marshall, game show host, 98

born Ralph Pierre LaCock into a show business family in Hunnington West Virginia

RIP Jack Russell, of the rock band Great White. 65.

Peter Marshall did a great job on the old Hollywood Squares, total pro. I loved that show. Charlie Weaver, Paul Lynde, Wally Cox, all the big stars!

Oh man, that's the first I've heard about Greg Kihn dying, I liked him too. He had a great sound, reminded me a little of Tommy Tutone.

Alain Delon, Le Samurai, at 88.

yes he did

Phil Donahue just died at age 88, basically the last hard lefto media figure I had respect for. Always seemed like a decent human being who didn't forget his relatively humble roots. He was actually fair when presenting different points of view, imagine that!

Uh, maybe I still have a little respect left for James Carville, but that's slipping fast. At least he's still alive! (notice I didn't say "barely")

Carville is an ass.

RIP Delon and Phil.

Such a voice and he did a great King Lear that was on PBS many years ago.

My Dad always said the best performance he ever saw was Jones on Broadway in The Great White Hope.

RIP to a legend.

Lothar Zogg and Thulsa Doom are supreme character names

Fredric Jameson, literary critic. Part of my grad work consisted of reading theory and although Jameson's The Prison House of Language and The Political Unconscious were key texts, I really enjoyed his writing on film, especially on Hitchcock.

Eugene "Mercury" Morris of the early 70s Dolphins.

Mercury Morris said Terry Bradshaw couldn't spell "cat" even if you spotted him the "c" and the "t "

Unkind, but, perhaps, true.

Thought that was Hollywood Henderson who said that

You're right, Dom. I always get the two confused.

And I've stolen that line a couple times.
