High Roller the Stu Ungar story 8
All In (with Dominique Swain) 5 (without Swain 1)

Just stumbled on a movie called Gutshot Straight on Netflix, downloaded it and watched it on a plane. ONE poker scene at the beginning and what ensues is the most senseless confusion... can't even put it into words. Steven Segal and Vinnie Jones have roles but they don't save the festering steampile of the movie.
If you're counting on Seagal and Vinnie Jones to save a movie, you probably would have been better of skipping it.
I see that documentaries are being mentioned here, therefore the Phil Ivey baccarrat card sorting story is worth a look, if being about a poker legend is enough. Ivey got greedy. But you have to understand how much money Ivey has lost as a degenerate casino game player. One day while my blackjack card counting team was playing, I personally saw him playing craps for 10s of thousands a roll and dust off a $300,000 marker in no time. And others have seen him play a lot higher than that. The card sort was his chance to get it all back and more. However, Ivey got greedy on how much he could win back per day without getting caught.
Some good poke-her movies:
Debbie Does Dallas
Insatiable
Deep Throat
would honestly love a trip report on what it was like going to porno theater back in the day
do you just see people cranking it everywhere
were there cleanup stations
were they ever crowded
did they sell concessions like popcorn
was there a lot of gay hookups at them
would people watch the film in its entirety or was it more of a drive thru and get serviced kind of thing
Pussycat theaters were a legit, but smallish set of theaters that smelled really bad... full concession bar with a lot of couples on the weekends... semi mainstream.
I never really looked at others when I went in and came out
There was a really big xxx theater near me on beach blvd across the street from Knotts berry farm back in the day. Very mainstream xxx theater with occasional 'celebrity' showings/meet and greet and discussion panels from time to time.
I went mainly for the entertainment when I was young, not to try and hook up or get serviced... though I am sure that did happen.
These are the big name film titles above that drew lots of couples to the theaters... it was the thing to do back early in the 70's as video was not a thing yet... 8mm and super8 were the only means for home entertainment back then. Most of which didn't have sound. This meant you had to go into a place like the le sex shoppe chain of adult book stores and go thru the wall of 8mm films.
There was also a Mitchell Bros in Santa Ana that had actual live sex shows, often with well know performers... even someone like John Holmes performed there... no, I never visited or have seen a live show back then.
thanks, i find that era fascinating
