After reading this and the Wikipedia article, this sounds really interesting and like something I would like to watch. But it seems terrible that almost no one will ever be able to watch the entire thing. After the artist made his money, and the museums have made back what they paid for it, this should be available on streaming, either for free or for no more than the regular cost of streaming a film.

I've never seen the point of works of art designed to only be experienced by very few people.

I would love to see it streaming but doubt that will ever happen. Perhaps Marclay believes it should only be shown as an art installation. I could see myself sitting through three or four hours, but I doubt I could stay longer.

The Clock is intriguing. One of the women I saw it with really enjoyed what little we saw. I knew I would like it, but I was surprised she did.

To clarify, even if it were available via streaming, I wouldn't try to watch it all at once, but an hour or so at a time on different days.

Yep, enjoyable but not on the level of Dazed & Confused. The book length oral history of DnC, Alright Alright Alright is a must read just for the sausage making of any non-studio darling film.

They were going for different things. It's more comparable to Rock n Roll High School. Dazed and Confused is great, though. I've read excerpts from that book. It looks like a fun read. Have you seen Everybody Wants Some?

I wouldn't either. Unfortunately, MoMA only shows it during open hours. Only a couple for 24 hours were scheduled, so you only see it from 10:00 to 5:30. I'd love to be able to start watching around 10:00 pm for a few hours.

No, donÂ’t ask me why. Did see Adventureland.

Ugetsu is one of my favorite films. I saw it when I was in my 20s, and I waited years for the DVD to see it again.

You've never heard of The Night Of the Hunter?? Omg you must watch that soon. Robert Mitchum, Lilian Gish...only movie Charles Laughton directed. Just an amazing movie.

Such a great film. Cinematography by Stanley Cortez is fabulous.

See this clip from Punch-Drunk Love. Barry's bruised hand spell outs "love" after he punches the walk. Another allusion to Night of the Hunter.

I walked out of the theater during The Matrix Reloaded. Maybe I should give it another shot?

Glutton for punishment...

I question whether or not there is such a person, but if there is, they're not Neo.

Thanks yall!! I really appreciate it. It's been great to be back hanging out here. It's been months since I felt this excited to talk about movies and analyze movies

I have a fondness for The Matrix sequels, but they have many flaws. Chief among them, it isn’t really the story that the original film set up at all.

Tangentially move-related, Laurence Fishburne was on the Star Talk podcast. He and Neil DeGrasse Tyson have fun.

Same here : I completely understand any criticism one can have of them, how little concise they are, that the storyline/narrative is all over the place, but I appreciate just that, the symbolism that touches a bit of everything - without, I concede, digging deeper into each concept touched...

Nice! I have Star Talk podcast saved on my favourites, and as much as I appreciated reading some of DeGrasse Tyson's books, I just log off when he starts laughing out loud/can't really dig his geekish sense of humor, but do pick and choose certain episodes to listen to (and will listen to this one ).

Goddamn it...

Broken YouTube Link

Welp, I'll be on a Lynch watch party for the foreseeable future.

Yep. I was the location rep for the house where the guy gets killed by the glass table. So I technically wasn't working for the production, I was representing the interests of the owner of that house lol.

My best friend and writing partner's mom had (still has) the largest location library in L.A. And I worked a lot for her on various movies and TV shows. It was awesome. I got yelled at by Oliver Stone on the set of The Doors because I wouldn't let him ruin the tile of a house I was repping. 😃

I posted this a few years ago about my brief experience "working" with David Lynch.

I will miss him.

I am still trying to wrap my head around it...

Even though he has look very fragile to me over the last few years, I would have hoped that he would outlive me.

I clearly remember the day Kubrick passed away because I was trashed by the loss, I think I am more upset today.

Same. I was driving and heard it on NPR and I burst into tears. That surprised me lol.

He was like that weird, funny uncle who you loved beyond all reason to me.

That's a great story, Dom! I can't imagine riding that high after an interaction like that. I'm beside myself and reading the kind words from talented writers online is both comforting and painful.
