not sure if you guys ever saw this, as it was made during Covid and I saw it yesterday for the first time. It was made 3 days before Carl Reiner died, and the ending made me cry.
Wasn't going to watch the whole thing, as it's an hour long, but I couldn't turn it off.
Broken YouTube LinkI keep recommending this to everyone, and nobody will take me up on it. The series reminds me of Errol Morris's Vernon, Florida. Wilson runs into the weirdest people and sees the humanity in them.

The Rip (2026)
Cops Matt Damon & Ben Affleck get more than they bargained for after raiding a cartel stash house and uncovering millions of dollars in this (for a netflix film) surprisingly solid thriller from Joe Carnaghan. Nothing Earth shattering but pretty decent overall.
Just Cause (1995)
Hadn't seen this one since back in the day, so decided to revisit on impulse after it popped up on Netflix. It's a slick but generic thriller, in which Sean Connery tries to get Blair Underwood off death row, after he discovers his confession was beaten out of him by hardass cop Lawrence Fishbourne. Ed Harris also appears to enjoy himself immensely, hamming it up as a southern fried serial killer. It's neither bad nor great as a film, but it's a very mediocre adaptation of the much different and excellent novel.
I haven't used drugs(except meds) of any kind since I was 20.
But I'm thinking of going off the wagon, taking a few gummies, and going to see Melania.
Maybe not.

Two revisits
Midnight Express (1978)
Hadn't seen this one since I was a teen and it popped up on youtube so decided to revisit. It still holds up as a gritty prison drama and genre film veteran Paul L Smith is still terrifying as sadistic prison guard Hamidou, but I doubt it would get made today with the same tone and can understand how Turkish people would be ever so slightly miffed at how they and their country are portrayed. I also found Brad Davis' portrayal of William Hayes rather annoying and unlikable as a character.
Avengement (2019) (also due to popping up on youtube)
Scott Adkins escapes from his hellhole prison and seeks brutal, gritty and at times bone crunchingly violent revenge on the gangsters who put him there in this quite frankly kickass genre flick, that while pure b movie exploitation, totally delivers in what it sets out to do, with some great fight scenes.
Midnight Express was the first R-rated movie I ever saw in a theater....my Dad took me. It got akward during the scene Billy's GF visits him and he masturbates to her.
Paul Smith's performance was so damn scary it made an impression. And I think Brad Davis was great, as was John Hurt.

I thought Brad Davis gave a great performance to clarify, he was really intense, I just found his actual character kinda unlikable in it. Hurt was awesome and props to Randy Quaid as well. I was amazed at Paul Smith's performance in it, as I'd only seen him in kinda campy flicks like Popeye, Sam Raimi's Crimewave and the hilariously crap but way entertaining slasher Pieces, but in this he was excellent, genuinely frightening and just incredibly menacing.
Btw have you ever seen the tv mini series Chiefs (1983)? It's about a 40 year search by three generations of police chiefs for a serial killer. Brad Davis is really quite good in it as a just plain evil racist scumbag police chief. It's on youtube and recommended.
Saw Sentimental Value found it to be an awesome movie, slow, but it should be.. really layered and looking to see how i can bet it to do well, but saw that Skarsgard is a big fav already.
also saw No Other choice and found it unique and tragic , love when niche fields of work get shown its complexities . i dont know the Oscar's market but surprising it was not nominated for anything, i guess i have to watch the other ones.

No shyt, that prison fight scene was epic af!!! Martial arts are so much better/more realistically portrayed than a couple of decades ago 
That's not even the best one, the final fight scene in it is jaw dropping, the film is well worth seeing if you haven't yet and like fight flicks and again is free on YouTube😉

Send Help - This is why we go the theater. I think I was smiling from about the 30 minute mark until the end. It's funny, over the top and absurd. That's probably my favorite role from Rachel McAdams, but Dylan O'Brien was great too. They played off each other perfectly. I give this the rare 10/10. One of the more enjoyable movie experiences you will have.
Going to see the 4k remaster of Touch of Evil tomorrow. It's the Welles cut, not the studio butchering of the film.

Had never heard of this Denzel movie Roman Israel. Bombed at box office and sounds unbearable (Denzel playing a socially awkward man has to be I Am Sam level, or Matt Damon handling poker chips & golf clubs level) but I guess he got an Oscar nom for it.
Mad Max Fury Road (2015)
Caught this on tv the other night and it's still pretty awesome, albeit essentially one long car chase, but a great spectacle of sheer excess with some nicely nutty touches to it. About the only quibble I have with it is I still think Tom Hardy was woefully miscast as Max, but other than that it's still a definite yay. Hard to believe it's just over 10 years old now.
