Movie/TV cliches that need to be retired

Movie/TV cliches that need to be retired

Not the cliches we still like, like women having to run in high heels while in danger, but the ones that are, well, old and cliche.

Mine:

  • When they do 21 gun salutes at military funerals and the shots make grieving family members flinch.

  • The "slow clap."

  • Passionate kisses in a torrential downpour.

  • "I didn't sign up for this."

  • Cars exploding into a fireball if they crash or get shot.

What are some more?

oooh, I got a good one: people getting out of the pool or the shower and then putting on a robe without first drying off.

Powerful execs being told there's a call and immediately jumping out of the pool/ocean to put on said robe to take the call. As if.

People that brush their teeth in movies or shows without looking like a rabid dog.

I'm going to reverse course a bit, as I just heard someone complain about characters in horror movies being so stupid for the millionth time. People have been throwing this out for decades. And obviously it is true in NEARLY ALL cases.
