TV: what have you been watching?
I think The Walking Dead may be the best drama thats currently airing/in production.
There, I said it.
Rewatched Secrets of the Octopus, really good, easily one of my favourite nature documentaries. Everything about them is so crazy.
Can change to different shapes of rocks or animals, instantly to the perfect colour to blend in (even though they're thought to be colourblind), learn to use tools and take them with them to use later, which only humans, chimps, and crows do. They learn all this on their own as the mother dies after giving birth, then they only live three years. Aliens!
yeah, this is great
Documentary about the 2003 and 2004 playoffs between the Yankees and Red Sox. 2004 was the year the Sox, down three games to zero, came back to win four straight and their first World Series in 86 years.
After the World Series win, my dad said now I can die a happy man. He would die on June 5th the next year as a happy man.

This week we get a 10-part Day of the Jackal remake with Eddie Remayne in the title role.
More excited for the Say Nothing series this week, based on a wonderful, chilling non-fiction book about the IRA Troubles in N. Ireland in 1972 about a mother of 10 who 'disappears,' and what happens decades later when her fate is revealed.

As a Cubs fan, the Red Sox were my AL team for obvious reasons. That roster had some really great characters, and going against that stacked Yankees team made it even cooler. Easily the best baseball series I've ever seen and likely ever will. Me and my roommate went to the bar to watch every game. I remember how exciting games 4-7 were. It's a magical sport, and it's great that your dad got to see them win.
No comments on YELLOWSTONE?
It was ok, but I thought Jamie and whats-her-name were plotting to kill Beth not John...
The West Wing
Even if it's fiction, it makes me feel better.

Most overrated show ever.
Also, one of my buddies from middle school sent them a spec script and they hired him.
Afterwards, he won an Oscar.
The world is funny sometimes.
It's all fiction, of course, but I'd say that House of Cards is closer to reality than The West Wing.
Currently I'd say Veep is the most accurate...
Day of the Jackal has a few good scenes, but it's way too stupid, and actually rather dull for the most part. Also, as much as I think Redmayne is an overrated actor, the main black chick is absolutely awful...she has the emotional range of a cardboard box. I'm kinda surprised by the mostly positive reviews this seems to be getting.
My friend I visited hasn’t seen Arrested Development, so I showed him an episode and I ended up rewatching a bunch with him
It gets even better every time I rewatch it, I guess some say there are “better” comedies out there but it’s definitely the funniest show I’ve ever seen, nothing comes close

marry me!
We're about 5 episodes into a couple of shows.
The Diplomat This is as good as TV gets. A++. Great characters, great writing, great acting. Just great.
Silo The opposite of the above. Probably won't watch much more of it.
Just started rewatching Banshee. Hot damn this show is awesome! When it aired 2013-2016 it was my favorite show at the time. Then I binged a rewatch in probably 2017 but haven't seen it since then. I was shocked to see that the main Banshee guy is the same actor who plays Homelander in The Boys. Homelander has a much different look and it has been a while since watching Banshee and I never made that connection.
But Banshee rocks! Same creator did the more recent Warriors (with some of the same actors) and it is awesome as well. If you like over the top action Banshee and Warriors will sate your appetite.
Wow totally did not clock that at all.
Just watched a clip of Banshee on YT and still not sure I believe it!

I tried getting into House of Cards, but there's a lot of filler, so I have up during the second season. It has its moments, but they could have condensed the first season into 6-8 episodes, and it wouldn't have dragged so much.
Has anyone here seen Oz? How was it? I have a long list of older shows I've never seen, and I'm leaning towards watching that one next.

i too had enough and stopped watching it around that point - you may want to try out the 1990 bbc original it is based off of, much better imo

oz was the original "look what we can do without network censors" show that pioneered high concept television on channels like HBO which cleared the path for successors such as Sopranos and The Wire
it's worth watching for that alone - it also spawned the careers of a number of actors you're very familiar with today so that's kind of neat seeing how they got started
definitely worth watching a few episodes - it slowly gets worse over time imo so feel free to drop when it stops feeling right - fwiw i recall the general plotlines of season 1 pretty well, it includes some of the best character arcs in the history of television imo, but i have no recollection whatsoever of how it ended
Watching the first few episodes of Hulu's Paradise, starring Sterling K Brown, Julliane Nicholson, and James Marsden. Starts out as a murder mystery about the death of the President of the U.S., and then becomes sci-fi thing with a preposterous twist at the end of episode 1. Still, it was an interesting twist...
But episode 2 spends a lot of time on HAVY MOTION and I was wondering why it was getting so lame. then I looked at who created it - oh, that emotion-porn peddler Dan Folgelman, creator of the laughable Life Itself movie and the execrable This Is Us TV show is responsible. Makes sense now.
I guess it's entertaining, tho.

I loved Oz when it first aired. There hadn't been anything like it on TV before.
The show was a career launching pad for a lot of actors you'll recognize.
That said, I suspect it may not have aged well, and I haven't rewatched any episodes.
