Your calculation is correct, but it’s a trend lately after Covid to raise the rack to compensate shortage of dealers other increased costs.
I just checked WPT Prime championship in Las Vegas ($1100- $130 ) has rake of 11.81%.
Until competition to offer tournament increase to pre Covid level, we will see similar Rake .
Also WSOP stopped offering tournaments in Atlantic City. Parx didn’t start their tournaments offering after COVID!

Tournament Director of any property has to fight for tabl

Rake should decline as the buy-in increases, as costs are largely the same (fixed cost of dealers / tables / etc) for a $300 event as for a $25k event.

It is "industry standard" for reasonably structured 1ks to be 11-13% rake. It is likewise "industry standard" for brand-name 5ks to be typically 4850+300+150, or ~8.5% rake.

Charging 11.4% rake for a 3500 is wildly out of line.

Looks fun!

Anyone trying to split a room a week or two prior?

Will be grinding cash games, maybe Tropicana area. HMU

I hope it brings lots of players.

And I don’t see any other popular series during this time , will bring so many top notch players.

Anyone had idea, who among top players attend this series?

Any 2+2 members attending?

Every time during big series their cash games are jam packed!! ( If I remember correctly poker room has almost over 100 tables)

Thx

As per structure sheet for event 1 ( $265 satty)

(5)Levels will last twenty-five (25) minutes each. A fifteen (15) minute break will be provided every two (2) hours.

If the levels are 25 minutes, how can break is after 2 hours!!!!
Don’t get the mathematics!! Must be a typo!!

I think their standard breaks are every 2 hours now, so rather than changing the wording for each tournament that has different length levels, I think they're just saying every 2 hours, instead of "Break after every X levels". In the case of 25 minute levels, I'm sure the break will be every 5 levels, which is 2 hours and 5 minutes. Not a big deal.

Thinking about going for the limit Omaha8 & HOSE events this week but curious about the cash game options if/when I bust. Is it just going to be a sea of NLH & PLO options in the poker room or would limit O8, LHE, etc. also be spread and going on Thursday/Friday/Saturday?

There should be plenty of cash games running during the tournament series. Certainly lots of NLH & PLO, but they do have a number of other options. They typically spread LHE, O8, stud and some mixed games. Should most definitely be running all options during those days.

I'll see you in the HOSE tournament 😀 Have fun, and good luck!

Thanks. Any idea on the typical limits that get spread for O8 at Borgata? I'll die if it's just like 3-6 or 30-60. I'm checking the bravo app now and don't see anything. Would be good to know for bankroll planning what to show up with.

I've never played O8 cash there, but I'm pretty sure they spread 10-20, when there's a crowd, which there usually is during a big series like this. I don't think they ever have anything as low as 3-6 in that game.

$10-20 half kill was a staple game in this room pre-Covid.

Holy Cow !

They will running a satty tomorrow $155 .. 1 out of 5 wins $600 tickets to KICK OFF DEEP STACK. That’s $120 to price pool & $35 juice !!!

Is there any explanation other then, borgata thinks their customers will not figure out ?

Never seen such a high Juice !!

How long do you think the Friday HORSE tournament will take?

Poker Room

I like this better. Better seats for my back.

I will be there for the Seniors event Sat. Jan. 11 (unless there is a blizzard). Looking forward to seeing a few fellow old fogies.

Now you care about juice when it affects the small buyins absolutely lol. This juice is actually semi reasonable for a $155 (~22%).

In fact the mid-stakes juice on these events is pretty much in line w/ industry standard, but for some reason Borg is soaking the $3.5k main players

Agree with this. You'd be hard pressed tofind a better value small buyin live tournament anywhere. Days of 15% juice is long gone. This is even better value than most wsop events. Borgata does a lot of things bad but tournaments is not one of them.

Is the tournament in the Event Center?

No, it's in the upstairs area outside the poker room. Not sure what they call it. The tables in the upstairs room are setup so close to each other. There is little room for when the dealers change at the tables, and for the waitresses to deliver drinks. I understand them wanting to not waste space, but it was very uncomfortable playing in that packed room on Thursday.

They are using the poker room, former club/ball/meeting room up the escalators and they setup some tables in the basement too. The management wouldn't give them the big convention room. They are doing the best they can. Turn out is great so that's nice.

ODEEBEE, did you make it to the series yet? If not, just wanted to let you know that they didn't have an O8 game running on Friday night, but they did have a 10-20 Big O game running. They also had an OOE game, which was a mix of O8 and Stud I believe. During the day on Saturday they had an interest list for 10-20 Big O, but not sure if they called a game by the evening. There were tons of cash games running over the weekend, with a ton of NLH of course, but they also had LHE, PLO, Stud, a mixed game, bomb pot games, etc. Just no O8 only game.

What are the chances that the tournament organizers will move the Seniors event from Saturday to Sunday in light of the expected snow storm on Saturday morning?
