WSOP $1,000 Mystery Millions

WSOP $1,000 Mystery Millions

Last 2 years this popular event brought

2024. 18409 players
2023. 18188 Players

Any guess what WSOP has to add to bring over 20000 players to the event * ?

Previous year 1st place and top bounty were 1 Million each .

* I am guessing the event will be part of 2025 schedule as it was Most attended event of the series.

Thx

My mistake 2024 Colossus $400 had the most runners: 19303.
So the price does matter.

So far the record of attendance is
2019 Big 50 $500 with 28371 participants!!

This will be first year of GG Poker ownership of WSOP !

IMO they will come up with new attractive events or Big opening event with massive guarantee!!

I think GG poker will just add a ton of online events to the WSOP, roping in players from Europe and elsewhere who don't have the means or inclination to travel to Vegas.

I played this event the last two times. I am debating whether to do it again. I prefer events with better structures and hour long levels. That bounty is certainly exciting but how much poker do you get to play. You have to be in something like the top 6% to even advance to day 2 where the bounty action even starts. Just sayin'.

I missed first year but played the event last year ! There were many aspects of the tournament were appealing to me :

1,“surprise bounty”
2, Jackpot & Bounty guarantee
3, Moderate Buy In ( Though I will prefer $400-$800 range).

I am wondering what will be this years catch. ?

They may add more online events, but you still have to be in Nevada, New Jersey, or Michigan to play online at WSOP.com.

If I recall correctly, the Big 50 had a pretty decent structure at a low price point.

If they have a $400 event with a million guarantee AND a structure with hour long levels and 50,000 starting chips AND promise 9-handed tables instead of 10, that would break every record, imo.

I’m not a fan of rebuys but if they had an event like that AND offered 3-4 rebuys per starting flight, they’d have an insane turnout. Shoot, add in some mystery bounty angle and it would be amazing.

Including how long it would take to finish.

Big Fitty was my best ever tourney, I loved it.

It was great value, but I hated playing it. Playing 10 handed was horrible, esp bc I think they used 9 handed tables still so you were crammed around the table. Im a bigger/taller guy too plus the guy next to me was anal about shoe to shoe contact. Im not trying to hit your shoe dude, Im just trying to move my foot an inch to the right, my bad.

Plus it was my first full WSOP and I didnt know about the FastPass machines so I waited in hour+ reg lines for 3 flights.

Not winning an allin throughout the whole thing didnt help either 😀

I'm a fat bastid so I'm used to never having as much room as I could use in tournaments. In cash games there are places that play 8 handed, so there's more comfort but it costs more.

Same here, although I was never all-in until day 3.

It was more exciting in 2018. I quit my job in May and then drove out to Vegas for a few weeks with like a 10k bankroll. I didnt play many tourneys that trip, it was mostly grinding cash games at either Bellagio or Venetian. Ironically, I won more online during my downtime than I did playing live that trip. Took my first shot at 5/T live at Bellagio that trip and lost a $3k pot all in pre with AA v KK, in under an hour.

2019 I had a much bigger bankroll/liferoll and played mostly tourneys and only a couple cash game sessions. Completely bricked out, only min cashed a few tournies and was down like $30k over the 5-6 weeks I was down there. IBH it kinda killed my motivation to be a full time pro, then COVID six months later sealed that fate.

absolutely it did for the first 2-3 hours but by level 6 you are legit shortstacked unless you accumulated a TON of ships.

2 hours before break and it is a shove or fold fest unless youre in the top 10% of chips

I don't remember it being that bad. I also don't remember running that hot, but I did make it to Day 3. But I was all-in very few times, which ultimately led to a poor decision on my last hand, I think. Generally, I was very lucky probably. Not really monster hands, but just good enough to win a lot of pots.

Because Im better than you.....

JK. The requirements for it were earnings above a threshold on Hendon mob, combined with being active in the MTT Strategy threads. Which I was up until the last couple years, and I had the earnings during my 2 year stint as a travelling pro.

And now the title stays. Kinda like how the US President has the President title for life. Or how a military title (Cpt, LT, Maj, etc) stays with you after you retire.

MTTLiveSemiPro isnt a thing but I would accept that demotion haha
